Fox news today reported that Caterpillar Co. has threatened to leave illinois due to the Governor raising the corporate tax by 35% effective immediatley. The new tax increase would raise their tax from 48 Million to about 60 million dollars.

Is there any wonder why corporations leave this country?

Taxes are KILLING our businesses. My buddy has a pizza joint and a few other things. The INCREASE in his unemployment insurance payments is costing him 75-85,000 PER YEAR!! Now, that money will NOT go to grow his business OR hire workers. Good plan there Obama. RAISE those taxes and put MORE Americans out of work. Your plan to wipe out our economy is WORKING!!

I forgot to add that there are 4 States that are courting Caterpilar to move to their state which are S.Dakota, Mississippi, Nevada and Florida! All 4 of those states are making Caterpillar look real hard at them because of cost cutting incentives!

I hope that they up and move. These States, and this Nation, HAVE to learn a very hard lesson. Over taxation of productive people and companies KILLS jobs and KILLS the will to work.

From what I understand is that S.Dakota doesn't have the corporate tax system, But the 3 other states do, but doesn't have the personal state income tax which would be good for the workers. Guess we'll just have to wait and see how it plays out..

Taxes need to be paid. The problem is the overspending that has been going on for YEARS. It is caught up. NOW they are in a panic. Programs will have to be cut. The problem is that they are looking to cut things that hurt the productive members of the country to continue subsidizing laziness. The federal level is worse. That bunch should be investigated for fraud. That entire bunch should be in jail.

they want all these entitlement programs and then expect no tax increases...well doh!! Idiots...the whole lot.
Yep as stated SD had no corporate tax and no personal income tax....just look at the I29 corridor....companies moving here..

and SD was the first state this year to pass the state budget...which is BALANCED....NO state debt....

expensive near S.F and especially R.C the Black Hills...in the burbs...a 3 Br back split for about 50-60K maybe 100K

New cars and trucks..sales tax is 3% only

My wife was born and raised in SF. Way to cold and to much snow for her.

Look at the voting demographics for Barry! No wonder entitlements are up. There's the change. More of the same.

Cat is seriously considering this. My sister works in the corporate office in Peoria and has for many years. Just a month ago they asked her if she would move to one of their other locations out of state, sorry can't remember which one. She was able to turn them down because she provides a lot of support for my 91 year old mom who is near her.

Cat is also talking about a strike. They actually have office people including her training on some of the machines. I guess the thinking is if the strike happens they can still keep up a limited production on spare parts or something like that.

SD is booming right now with the production of the Bakken oil shales in the west end of the state. If you can stand the winters, not such a bad place to live, I think. As far as Cat goes, investments and business will eventually flock to where money is treated best. Right now, that ain't so much in the US. With Obama and the socialist cronnies running up deficits to pay for the giant new nanny state they are creating, best figure on taxes ramping higher, business getting squeezed and us WORKING citizens getting shafted one way or another. All you lazy bums on the dole will likely see a raise in pay and benefits, especially if Obama gets another 4 years.
