Isn't there something in the Code of Conduct about a new poster not posting sane, reasoned, well thought out and intelligent comments within their first 10 posts?

Turtle,

I wish. Maybe in "Code of Conduct 2.0".

If anyone wants a more fuel efficient car buy one! The government doesn't need to mandate that.

This is no time to encourage additional burden on the big 3.

Cat expanded in 2008 by 11,000 workers, now they are cutting about 20,000....thats only (I say that lightly) 9,000 jobs net lost...and that 20,000 is worldwide...not just here....

listen i don't care what anybody says about the California state government, the facts are the facts they can't even balance a budget and keep there roads and other infrastructure intact it's like being in a 3rd.. world nation there it really is.

if they can figure out simple things like where to put the money to keep their roads nice and the budget balanced what makes anybody think they are bright enough to understand complex things like interstate commerce and the environment?

Not sure what you are talking about. CA. has always had their own standard for years. Doesn't matter anyway- this is looking like depression and talk of saving industrial jobs without some old time struggle is like pigs trying to fly.

they had standers that because of Federal mandates were not enforceable so having them on the books means little it's like not having them if you cant enforce a law you don't really have that law.now they can enforce them

and as far as a depression the only real difference between a recession and a depression is length of time.in North America the two words are almost nearly interchangeable but generally depression last 6 or more years and is determined after the fact

Yeah, California will legislate itself into financial ruin. Add to that some whacked out Supreme Court Judges sitting in San Francisco and we are screwed...

Many California natives are good folks that get common sense propositions passed (most notably the recent prop 8 opposite-sex marriage definition) But too many of our common sense laws get overturned by the judges.

California's biggest problem is all the other States sending their rejects out here. Nancy Pelosi is a carpetbagger from New York. Representative Maxine Waters and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger ain't Californian either...
