That's very true about excess weight and transmissions. Another factor in that is the higher the ratio rear gear the harder it is on a transmission getting the load moving. Getting a heavy load moving from 1st gear to 2d and 3d gear puts a lot of torque on the back end of tranny.

I originally put that van together that "Moot" posted. I did it in 2006. Theres alot more to that van then meets the eye. I looked at alot of cargo vans and other vans that looked like the one posted, and used knowlege from all aspects of trucking. That was a great van and had the industry and economy gone downhill I would have kept it.
I am now putting together some ideas that will surpass the last van I put together.
