Sorry Dave but thats not in the bible although often quoted like cleanliness is next to Godliness that ones from the koran."The Lord helps those who help themselves". Think that was lesson two in Sunday school back in the day.

You forgot one. The eighth commandment. "Thou shall not steal".
This is one of the few times I disagree with Rlent. Easytrader is right, except on the spelling of ne'er-do-well. Scripture tells the Church they are to support orphans and older widows, but not the young widows, because they can remarry. Other than that, he that shall not work, neither shall he also eat--Word of God--though that verse doesn't address those who can't work as opposed to won't.So if you think Jesus was saying it is godly to support bums and naredowells, I think you have self deludly missed the overarching biblical teaching. Perhaps you might spend some time going through the Proverbs.
Next thing you know there will be some crazyassed amendments passed allowing Negroes and women to have an equal vote.
If I had to guess I'd suspect that more likely that it's a different perspective ... rather than a different prospective ...Just a different prospective I guess.
What have I said in this thread that you disagree with ?This is one of the few times I disagree with Rlent.

Actually, it doesn't. Forex, the very nature of salvation, which cannot be obtained through any effort of your own. God helps those who have come to an end of themselves and trust Him.God helps them who help themselves, is from Poor Richards Almanac, IE a B. Franklinism. Having said that, it certain.ly does fit within the teaching in the bible. Which een our non christian fore fathers like Franklin were very familiar with.
