I have seen several messages here lately on the subject of coming to Canada in a commercial vehicle. Much of what has been posted is wrong.
Some of the other comments are insulting to Canadians.
I will research the current regulations and try to post something helpful in a couple of days.
Please remember though:
1- you are coming into another country. That country's law will apply.
2- The United States Constitution does not apply here. We have our own Charter of rights and Freedoms that does apply.
3- If you bring in a laptop, expect Customs to inspect it. Some truckers seem to enjoy "kiddie porn" on their laptops and Customs has made several seizures.

There is lots more to say, but that will have to wait.

Thank you for your comments & willingness to try to assist me. I have
contacted the Canadian Embassy, in Washington, DC, & obtained the forms & instructions for applying for a "certificate of rehabilitation". However, it appears that it would be a rather long &
tedious process. I have decided to have my company just add to my driver profile that I won't accept Canadian loads. The person at the
Embassy was sympathetic, but, as you pointed out, the laws are VERY
different. My wife & I discussed this matter at lenght over the week-
end, & she reminded me that I should be grateful that I do live in a
country where something that ocurred over 25 yrs. ago is not held against me. As to that "gentlemans" comments regarding his feelings
about Canada, just remember: "Ignorance can be fixed; stupid last for-
ever!" Thanks again.:)

I always enjoy going to Canada, the exchange rate is fantastic and the Tim Hortons coffee is worth paying the toll to get it! :7
