Well , obviously one of us got the wrong info.
My guess is it's
A) for all other divisions except LEAM. Or...,:
B) someone didn't get the memo.

In an 8,000+ truck carrier "recruiting" can mean many things. Who exactly did you talk to and when? What phone number did you call? Respond privately if you wish. No point in putting the wrong info out there. If you were told wrong, the teller needs to know.

I called 877-472-0097. That is the number Landstar uses in their full page ads. I asked if they required EOBR's and the lady said yes;effective 08/01/12.
For ALL new leases.
I had heard 09/01/12 which prompted the call.
I asked if they were required for all divisions. I again was told yes. I DID NOT ask about LEAM specifically. I made the call 14:05 on 9/19.

If I were a LEAM BCO and I found out that the company was moving forward with this new technology, and that LEAM wasn't important enough to be included in the plans,I would be concerned.

You may very well be concerned, but that would be your decision to proceed on a false premise; that is, making a leap from "new technology" to "important enough."

I called that same number this morning and talked to Trudy. She gave me the correct answer when I asked if EOBR's are required on LEAM trucks going forward. She was very clear. The answer is no. When I explained what prompted me to check, she offered again the same answer.

To people who may call Landstar with questions of their own about Landstar Express America, kindly note that Landstar has several divisions and circumstances differ between them. Be sure to tell whoever you are talking to that your questions are about Landstar Express America.

She may have told you without you asking.
Whatever. It's not all that important. Just a conversation starter.

Normally in my line of work, i am not in need for squeezing out every minute from my allowed drive time. but you never know, so for many years now i learned how to take advantage of the 15 minutes increments of the paper log.
for example, if all possible, then i will start my line 3 or 4 about 6 minutes before a quarter of an hour.
that's allow me to "legally cheat" the paper log.
since i stop my truck at least once every 3 hours for a load check, by the end of the day i can add some valuable time to the allowed 11 hours.
