Cabover

I've only driven two Century classes during my time as an expeditor.

I would appreciate input listing similarities and differences between Century or other type class 8 versus cab over.

I realize one can mount a larger box with cab over. Larger box means more loads are available.

Thanks

I don't really like the ride of a cabover, but I've only driven older KW's. You are right about more loads. At least once a week, I get a load offer from a distance away because they needed a 24 footer.

John before you buy a cabover try to use one for a while. If you like to go up and down on the seat you will do fine. Remember in the case of an collision YOU get there first.

In a lot of ways, I'd call it better. The Argosy is smoooooth! With a 110" cab/sleeper, you can fit a 30' box on the back. Drove one for Col. Foster, and I have to say that was the best truck as far as utilizing what you have available. I wouldn't say it's for the normal carrier tho.

I can only go by what I've been told since I haven't driven them but unless it's a newer Argosy with the air ride front suspension the ride is going to beat you up. The newer Argosy is supposed to ride as well as any other truck. Those newer ones are also built to some European crash test standard that's supposed to be extremely rigid. They are supposed to be almost as good as a hood truck in a crash. The stairs that automatically powers out when the door is opened is pretty cool too although I wonder how long until it goes out. I've considered building one on the 110" bbc chassis with a 30' box on it. I'm not sure how many more jobs you'd get with it but there would definitely be a few more.

The steps would be a question mark in the winter. Once they are packed with salt and snow and would have to think they could be vunerable to some issues. They still are kind of a neat concept truck. For a single driver I think they would be ideal.
