yea a hd 2500 is rated at 8600 and a 3500 is rated at 9600...not much of a difference...the difference come in the rear ale housing..the 3500 has a "full floating' axle and supports the higher loads, but we all know that we vanners run heavy if we have to...even with just a srw truck....:D

And i guess that driver of your's trust the owner on the FSC huh....LOL....now if you can get that Macy card back....:p

Since Ultra Maxx was at the expo, has anyone really checked into buying a Ultra Maxx van? I'd do it if you could get a 4.8,instead of a 6.0 engine.

The Ultra Max as the Cargo Max are built on the longer and heaverier 12,300 lb gvw Motorhome cutaways...the 4.8 is NOT available on that chassis at all...now, with the 6.0 the 6 spd trans and the 3:73 axle ratio, i would not be afriad to think that that setup after it has a good 10,000 mile on it will get 16 mpg minimum and probably closer to 18....

There is now a Diesel Cargo Max with the 410 and the 4spd trans signed on with a major carrier running out of Canada...it is still new and less the 10,000 mile, he is getting 19.8 right now..

I will make one comment I didn't read here, If you don't want to have to run a log book like the straight trucks and semi's make sure you keep the GVWR under 10,000 lbs. 1 pound over 10,000 or 9,999 and you will have to run a log book.

I had a 03 GMC 2500 with a 5.3 darn good motor never touched 480,000 miles, but 4 sets of ball joints, tie rods and wheel bearing hubs and 3 rebuilt transmissions. Get the 1 ton.
