Building Explodes

A 5 story building has exploded on Park Avenue in NYC. No reason is known for the explosion yet. This is on going.

Based on preliminary information, the mayor said, “The only indication of danger came about 15 minutes earlier when a gas leak was reported to Con Edison. Con Ed dispatched a team to respond. The explosion occurred before that team could arrive. ...

Ruben Borrero, a resident of one of the flattened buildings, told the AP that the smell of gas was “unbearable” and residents complained about it repeatedly, even as recently as Tuesday. Con Edison says it received no gas complaints from the building before Wednesday, the AP reported. ...

A similar situation happened in Minneapolis earlier this year. All the right ingredients for an act of terrorism were present; Somalis, mosque, East African neighborhood, grocery store, sidewalk and Muslims. A few days later the fire chief ruled the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak. Kinda ruined it for the people that got all whipped up about bomb making Muslims or bomb throwing Rednecks.

I read the entire article, and several others. I made NO comment on why the building blew, when I posted the OP there was no clue, and it is STILL, as of about 1/2 ago, totally clear why it blew and nothing has been ruled out YET. They are leaning towards a gas explosion. I posted it here only because there was a chance that some would want to make political statements and it avoided the mods having to move it later. I just thought it needed posted, one because it is interesting and two, many in here handle freight in and out of the area.

I make no other claims on the story, it is still unfolding
