I wonder what the penalty for not having insurance is.

"For tax year 2016, the penalty will rise to 2.5% of your total household adjusted gross income, or $695 per adult and $347.50 per child, to a maximum of $2,085. For tax year 2017 and beyond, the percentage option will remain at 2.5%, but the flat fee will be adjusted for inflation."

Although, that's just the penalty for being healthy and not needing health insurance. Personally, I would rather have the peace of mind of some safe guards if it should be needed.

Thanks. Looking into and agree that I need the safe guard. I'm a widow on a small income until I get my own SS. Still need health insurance and can't afford it.

I took my widow's pension SS at age 60 and can switch it over to my own, whichever is higher when I turn 66. At least it pays the mortgage. I do have health insurance but the deductible and copay make it seem like I don't have insurance. Guess it would come in handy if I had a major medical issue.

Got booked yesterday pu19:00@ our favorite 'Welcome' address in Williamston. 3hrs in got a call receiver closed tomorrow for election day! Our original delivery time 10:00 won't open until 23:30 hoping for some $$$ for our trouble never would have accepted it had we known this.
