Breakfast in the parking lot

BREAKFAST IN THE PARKING LOT is alive and well! Sindy and I cook frequently (when time allows) at truck stops all over! We are part of a group of drivers that cook and bring fellowship back into the industry! It doesn't matter what name is on the your truck! The group was started way back when Dale "Truckin' Bozo" Sommers started the idea of drivers actually getting together in a parking lot, cooking and breaking bread together! There is still fellowship in this industry! We do most of the truck shows, Louisville, Dallas, and hopefully we will be at the expo in July! Updates where we will be cooking will be posted on the forum and I give updates on xm 152 midnight to 5am with Steve Sommers and Bubba Bo on America's Truckin' Network, everyone is invited! Bag Chairs are a requirement!lol Just look for the Express-1 truck with the portable kitchen out the back!:D

That's a good idea on the breakfast for the expo. During nice weather my wife and I usually grill something when we're layed over at a TS. We usually do it when there are a lot of expediters around in the front lot in vans. Did it last year at the Expo and this year at MATS. Looking forward to this years Expo.

5-6 years ago there was more of that going on..JuJu and I would put on the fixins some mornings or even a burgerfest for dinner....the J kitchen managers were quite obliging with the sliced tomatoes. lettuce and onions....for a small fee of course but worth it...:D

We've seemed to be isolating ourselves more lately for some reason, whether the economics, attitude some bad feelings or over stressed.....too bad, life is too short..

Don't become a recluse! We have never met a stranger, just new friends! Thats the way we roll! "Lead By Example" is something I live by! Treat others with respect and care and we get surprised quite often!

Can't help but wonder, if politics has anything to do with the tendency to "avoid" meeting each other? We, me included, tend to gravitate toward those who think/believe like we do. By doing this, I think we deprive ourselves of meeting some d#*n good people. For example, Ken and I may differ, in our politics, but I would buy his supper to hear the story behind the shorts. Also, LOS and I will never change each others minds, but who wouldn't want to hear his stories of his intelligence service?

Maybe the old adage of never talking about politics, sex and religion could be employed during these "tailgate" get togethers.

What do you think?

When my wife an I started in Expediting back in the early 1990's, we worked for Roberts, when you pulled into a T/S with other Expeditors there was always a group setting around having a big Pow-Wow, what fun it was. It seems like now when you come in no one looks at you or even wants to talk. I guess it looks like you may get a load before them. Someone said there are too many people in Expediting, this may or may not be true, but it does'nt mean you have to unfriendly, just my thoughts.
