tough titty said the kitty....
Prime example of Location, location, location....you are miffed because you don't get the miles?
Solution: Take a load to Canada and get a return trip to Laredo...the same way other "American" truckers do....what you propose cuts off one leg to save the other bad leg....and to wit...the same American trucker can take a load all the way to Canada...tsk, tsk....
And they should be stopped from doing so and banned from trucking in the US for ever!! Open the scales in the US and enforce the laws already on the books! I wouldn't care if I got stopped 3 times a trip if it meant that people who broke the laws got caught. It happens up here as well, especially with Toronto to Montreal freight, it's our own **** fault that we don't enforce the rules here and let it happen.
I get plenty of miles thank you. This thread is not about an individual it's about the country as a whole, sorry you missed that. There are safe well maintained fleets in Mexico,Canada and the U.S. but every one seems to want to single out the junk they see and of course if your doing a report on Mexican drivers and are apposed to the border crossing you are not going to target a safe Mexican driver are you. I used to drive for a Canadian company and never crossed the border and never will. I practice what I preach unlike most. You are way off the point yet exactly right, the same American driver can take that load and get about 1650 American miles, it was the few additional miles going into Canada VS. the additional miles the Canadian driver gets coming into the U.S. that was the point, It's not a fair trade off for the U.S. driver. I'm not in the EO circle of twenty so I wouldn't expect you or any of the others to agree but rather hang out in the soapbox and preach one sided politics and contradict your selves from thread to thread. And It is not a proposal I was making it was just my thought and would take the Canadian hand out of the American workers pocket. No one seems to want Mexican workers so why is a Canadian any different. And you do not have to answer that question because we will never agree.
I would like to point out that OVM seemed to take this personally and it is not personal. It is that I don't understand the difference in a Canadian driver VS. a Mexican driver. I do know some Canadians and have always gotten along with them and they know were I stand but that has never stopped us from breaking bread together. I've always enjoyed Pipers post, found them informative and funny(when they were meant to be) and thought he would be someone fun to meet. Nobody here seems to be able to agree to disagree if one is outside the circle.
'Tis OK sir.....I have spent every vacation dollar I have in your neck of the woods for the last 10 years......(well sort of, does Bristol count?) I would much rather spend time with my freinds in East Tennessee than to spend it in Toronto. People like OVM come from Toronto!
OVM, read the thread"what would you do" and again nothing personal, just joking with Jenny but I don't think she knew what I was referring to.
I know a many good Canadian drivers who would love to work here but can't so why are Canadian allowed to drive on IRT show even though they don't live here?
I do support Canadians to work here, I lost my job to one but that's because I can speak the same English language or at least understand enough Quebec style French to know when someone is mad at me. But I am having problems with the spanish thing.

Do they pay them the same as the American workers were paid and any benifits? Same working hours, same everything? I have a feeling they don't.
