If you are in Detroit, you are not far from Wayne in Toledo I bet he has a good used alternator he could sell you.
Saw this after getting home already, I doubt he would have enjoyed my stopping by at 3 am

Dropped their new 2800 lb engine at the new subway extension in Toronto, once everybody found each other. NOBODY knew what I was talking about until I reached out to the original carrier...who then called his contact...and I was unloaded by the very people who didn't know what I was talking about. Huge construction site with at least 10 different companies and trailers...the government ones didn't even want to look and it was for them

Oh and the alternator fixed itself. For now..

Coming through Oregon & Idaho kept seeing snow capped peaks. Went I to Home Depot in Seattle Sunday and had to walk through all the Christmas trees. So, what happened to Autumn? Onward to Denver

Time flies when you're old. Think about the last time you were in Denver

If you are traveling through Oregon, you are required to have chains for your vehicle even if you don't plan to use them. This is a year round requirement.
For vans too?

Everybody including passenger vehicles.
The way I look at is, if I have to chain up then it's too bad to be on the road. The freight can wait.

Wouldn't hurt to get a set from a tire store. Get the ones that are cables and not chains because you will not want to chain up anyways. Just have them to be compliant in case you get pulled over. They should run somewhere around $50 or so. Stay away from Truck stop chains, they will rape you.
