Bolt!

And while I am at it, I am interested in seeing how the Bolt Van drivers are holding up. After a pretty bad year in 09, I may be ready to go back out in a van sometime in summer 10... not sure, but once this business gets in your blood it's tough to let go. I have spoken to them in the past and the rates were not that great even before the bust we are in.

Happy New Year

Sounds to me like the problem the poster on Craigslist is with the Owner/Operator and NOT with Bolt Express.

Is it really that hard for people who drive other people's trucks to understand they are working directly for the owner of the truck and not directly for the carrier?

Is it to hard to understand when you started driving the truck you signed a contract with the owner of the truck and you did not sign a contract with the carrier.

Is it to hard to understand that when you started driving the truck for the owner of the truck that the contract spelled out how and when you would get paid and if you didn't sign a contract at all then that is your fault and not the owner operator or the carrier?

Is it to hard to understand that if you hung around for weeks and weeks after NOT getting paid that is showing your ignorance and not the owner-operator or the carrier.

WAKE UP PEOPLE - protect yourself, take responsability for your own actions, and if you do that you would more than likely eliminate 90% of your issues. IMO of course.

Look I have been with my fair share of carriers and it took me awhile to notice that my failures I was running into was not anyones fault but my own......it was simply easier to blame everyone else but myself.

Over the last year or so and listening to the veterans and having the fortune of working with a super owner-operator, learning this business inside and out, and continuing that learning everyday has taught me that I am responsable for my actions, my failures and my success - PERIOD!

Well, for starters you might want to find out what this is about.....
Dunno, can't say really .. however I can tell ya this:

Every week (that I worked) for the last two+ years like clock-work, always on time, and except for two minor insignificant matters (amounting to less than $60 total, one corrected, and one pending), and always correct to the penny (with no intervention on my part, other than those two instances) :D

This weeks direct deposit is even showing up in the bank - despite Friday having been a holiday.

Hey people can post stuff online for any reason...not all carriers are for everybody...as was said, chances are this persons issue is with a O/O and not directly with Bolt..and as RLent said, in 18 months no problem with pay not being in the bank when it was suppose to be and only one time was it wrong...and the direct deposit for christmas and New Years were both done on Thrus and not Fri, so there was no waiting for it.....

You could probably do an internet search on any company in existence and find someone who isn't happy.

As for me and Bolt, I'm still here.

Bolt seems to pay its vendor/partners like clockwork as well, which is more than I could ever say for All State or Nations.

Out of curiosity, where are you getting your info from on the subject of pay problems at All-State? My pay has always been on time, right on the money. No problems, here.

Are you an O/O with All State? My info is all first-hand, baby! No hearsay. They are currently running past 2 month cycles, and they don't answer or return phone calls or emails in accounts payable..

As for nations, we wrote them off last year when they exceeded 100 days to pay. There are other carriers represented here who I'm sure can tell you some stories as well.

jefferson experience is not unusual. I can confirm first hand with my experience with those 2 carriers. With bolt very little dealings but they were positive.

Carriers often times will float or delay payments to other carriers to help with cash flow or when they do not have adequate credit. Being paid timely as an owner operator is not always a guaranteed sign of a companies financial health, but it is still a good indicator. Do your homework and keep your eyes open. For instance the Arrow drivers should have been running for the hills when the fuel cards got shut off repeatedly.

I think my previous post clearly stated that I am with All-State.As far as I know, I have not heard of any driver leased here having any kind of problems money-wise.I am guessing you are an outside small carrier who is having problems with them. And I agree with Mr. Elliott's post,But since I am not having problems at all,and everything is right on the money, I have no reason to worry and look elsewhere. They are fufilling their contractual obligations to me,and I am being kept busy, and that is all that matters.I actually have not one complaint with them, and wish I would of came here sooner.A very professional company.Sorry about your luck,Jack.

Guido, just so you are aware, as a clarification, the pay problems at At-State do not appear to be affecting the leased-on owner/operators, but rather they seem to be a little late in paying their vendors and partners (a.k.a., outside contractors with their own authority to whom All-State has brokered freight that they could not otherwise place onto one of the trucks leased on to All-State). I know two guys (well, three now with Jefferson's mentioning of it) with their own authority who have both mentioned that All-State is 2-3 months past due on paying them for loads delivered. If there's a cashflow problem, as jelliot stated, carriers will often place the outside carriers last in line to be paid, and will pay the contractors leased onto them first. Late payments to outside carriers might be nothing to worry about, but it is something to closely monitored. If it becomes routine or a chronic problem, then the leased contractors (that would be you) are next, and it would be prudent to make a move before that happens.

Well, I would think that would be obvious, but until then, it will be business as usual for me while there.
