Bologna

When I was a kid I thought bologna was swell. Later I grew to regard it as pink lard in a package. Happily, I recently discovered a brand in Michigan called Kogel's that is great but it is hard to find away from MI. Are there any other hidden food treasures across the USA? Obviously IN & Out in CA, Moonlite's Burgoo and BBQ in KY and Bill Miller BBQ brisket in TX are well known but I am sure there are other yet to be discovered places with great food.
Any suggestions?

one of the best Fried Bologna Sandwiches I have ever had is at the BP Station just down the street from the "J" in Olive Branch Miss...I get 3 of them every time i am there...1 for lunch, 1 for dinner and 1 for a late night snack.....mmmm good...It is 3/4 inch thick...cooked in a deep fryer and served on white bread with our without cheese.....:)

All I know is that the Kogels billboards showing their sausages are pretty gross looking

The BP just down the road from the J at the 201 exit off I-75 in GA.(Jackson?) has some amazing BBQ sammitches.

Also as all Big Boy restaurants are NOT created equal, the Frisches Big Boys are the best by far. (located in central and southern Ohio, northern KY, eastern IN.) (Dreamer, can I get a witness? )

In Louisville on the southwest side it's Mark's Feed Store BBQ on 31w with parking across the street in a Walmart lot and Mike Linnig's Fish Place off Greenbelt Highway with parking a block away at a very small BP truckstop.

Daddy Joes bbq in Gaffney, SC just down from WalMart is awesome. Plenty of truck stops in that area too.

Bobak's Polish Deli, 5275 Archer, near Midway Airport in chitown. Cheap and lots and lots of food.
Backyard BBQ next to the Walmart in Kokomo. Walk in and fill your lungs with the smell of heaven. Not cheap, though.
Old Great Wall just east of the mall in Lansing. Makes the list because their Crab Rangoon is fantastic.
The Italian place attached to the Sunoco truck stop on the east side of Fort Wayne, on 30 as you leave town. Great manicotti with meat sauce. Have them add mushrooms. Be prepared to let it cool for a few minutes or you WILL scald your tongue.
Any Firehouse Subs. Far better than Subway.
Also better than Subway is a chain called Little King, found only in Omaha and maybe Lincoln. Their seafood sandwich is the best.
Also in the Omaha area is a chain called Runza at which they serve a homemade filled sandwich similar to a Hot Pocket, only actually good. It has spiced beef, cabbage, and onions. There are other variations on the theme.

If you get out by WIlson, Ok ... west of Ardmore, be sure to check Jimmy D's Fish!

Shameless plug for my daughter's place! And they have good food too!

I try not to miss Rudy's when in Texas, the bbq is great, but the sides put them over the top: new potatoes in butter, and desserts to die for. You can pick & choose any combination you like, and watch your brisket being sliced - love it!
