Beware of Cummins motors

I keep very detailed notes on every repair, and in paticular, the shops where the work was performed. There are Freightliner and TA shops I refuse to let touch my trucks under any circumstance's.
I have forund Pete and KW shops in certain areas that I will use over Freightliner shops. These shops love to get disgruntled Freightliner customers and aim to please.
I had emergency light work done in the middle of the night at a TA in Hurricane West Viginia recently. If there are more ignorant, bumbling idiots in this state,I would be hard pressed to find them. They will never touch one of my trucks again.
I actually prefer certain TA's to the local Freightliners who have burned me in the past.My advise:Keep notes, stay educated and ask the right questions.Avoid Freightliners that have shift changes without somebody in custoemr service(seperate from the Shift managers)who keep up on the trucks in service.
The best in the counrty,in my opinion,is Freightliner of Atlanta. They hire ex service managers to be go betweens to avoid shift change problems.I have suggested to many Freightliner shops that they should do the same thing.

I prefer to use the Ma and Pa type shops when I can find one on the road. Seems to me they, for the most part are still "mechanics" as well as "technicians". Seems you only find technicians in the bigger shops instead of the good ole problem solving "wrenches".

I know what you mean about technicians. A few years ago I had a problem with my Powerstroke that ended up being a broken line to the turbo. You could hear it sucking air. The technician plugged in the scanner and there was no code. Logical conclusion? There's nothing wrong. I managed to find a mechanic and get it fixed.
