In the past few months I've witnessed an increase in load offers going to Texas.

From looking at the chart at Forbes.com there appears to be a correlation as the top 5 cities for Job Growth are in Texas!

I also discovered a few other cities on the list that I had never been to before until last year.

Take a look and see if you have seen any increase of inbound or outbound loads from the cities on the list.

What bothers me most about it is the number one job growth location is McAllen, right on the border.

It is not the norm for cargo van freight to be going in and out of deep Texas, but more and more of our vans are heading down that way.

Yesterday, I saw a solo van going to Las Vegas, NV and several have been going in and out of Arizona and New Mexico.

In the past, I had not done very well in Pennsylvania, but lately I have seen an increase there as well. A couple of PA cities were on the list too.

PS. When I went to Texas, I waited overnight in a Walmart parking lot in Garland, TX. I have never seen so many cars with black plastic garbage bags taped over car windows. Obviously, broken out from attempted theft. The Walmart had private security driving around in the lot with a flashing yellow light on top and when I went inside the store there was a uniformed Garland Police officer inside.

I talked to a couple of bob tail drivers regarding the safety factor of parking there overnight. They seemed OK with staying there, but they sensed my apprehension. As I was putting up my window screens they fired up their rigs and each one parked on either side of me. Wow! What a blessing. My little van snuggled in between two big trucks. I thanked them in the morning. Just about the time I begin to think that nobody really cares, God sends someone my way just to prove me wrong.

I had the same thought, although we've not been in TX much the last few months. Seems we're on the "west coast" runs.

My favorite uncle lived in Garland. Some areas are ok and others I wouldn't stay even in an armored car... kind of like most other cities in the country.

Well I can't say which is the best city to get a job, but I can tell you what is the worst one - any city in the south east part of Michigan.

You know the weird thing about that is Greg is hasn't really been that long ago since people were trying to get up there because there were a bunch of jobs.

It seems as though this month is not as bad as I thought (knock on wood). Panther's load count for cargo vans in Chicago seems to have skyrocketed. As I have just dropped and am first out on the effingham. Chicago now seems to be doing 14 loads per day. And I have been doing a lot of loads out of PA recently. matter of fact I hauled a load from Brackenridge, PA to Crossville, TN and got a load on the way down going from Sparta, TN to Flora, IL. Hope this keeps up.
