Well , I have been empty since 0630 Weds 11/30....got a run yesterday that had me DH 94 miles and then it turned into a dry run...so now I am in the middle of "no where" (Guntown) Mississippi waitin for a load...Its been a cold long day and i really haven't accomplished much..Ordered a bunch of Sugar Bowl T-shirts for my kids and grand kids and a new hat for myself (yea i always have to buy myself something for christmas) had 2 really good calzones for a late lunch and was just feelin sorry for my situation in general. Why am I still sitting??? I have to be one of the longest sitting units!!! You all know the "stuff" tat runs through our noggin at these times..
Well in between this morning and late this afternoon, I have been off and on FB..Been following Dale New #275 as he picked up and delivered all those wreaths for "Wreaths Across America"...As i kept checking in and new pictures and updates were added by John E., I would "share" and post them on my FB page hoping to evoke a reaction from my family and friends and maybe a few donations to the cause. But as I read I kept going back to the man that donated a truck, driver and fuel to this cause...He is the same guy that bends over backwards for all of us that either contract with him or drive for a contractor leased to him..so it is totally understandable how he would make the effort to support this cause. And it is a admirable effort...
Then to kill somemore time i started going back looking at old post..found a few that questioned Load 1 in what might be considered a "negative" light...found a few on "conspiracy theories" and even 1 if mine own waste of bandwith rants....
So here i sit, feelin dumped on because i ain't movin with a load in the truck..whinin to myself about why (because i am an expert and i know why) then Guido post on FB about how proud he is to have Load 1 on the side of his truck (and i agree)...and then a light goes off in the dimmly lit confinds of my head...look at where you are leased to...Look at what the owner of that company has done not only for you personally but for the community and the whole of his company...I read words from Steve Wolfe, OVM, and a bunch of others including myself and as i read them i really felt like an idiot....
I am leased to the last company i will be until i quit this business (well unless they dump me)...everyone that i have the pleasure to come in contact with at Load 1 does the best they can to make my job easier..dispatch works harder at finding good paying freight for all of us than most companies do to find low paying freight...
So, Thank You John Elliott and ALL of Load 1....I might be sitting, and yea i ain't overly happy about the length of time, but i know none of you are either...and i know that i am where I want to be as far as who i am leased to...So again, Thanks!!
Sometimes its a good thing to get slapped upside the head, no matter how it happens...kinda wakes you up....
Think I'll DH 24 miles to Tupelo Miss and go to Logans for a steak dinner later tonight....yea ....
