It is a
right - by birth - to be a United States
Citizen.
it is STIILL a GREAT privilege to live in this GREAT Nation.
In a country that counts
freedom of conscience and
individual thought as one of it's
most sacred treasures, your comments/thoughts above are something that is an
individual personal opinion - for each individual to adopt as they see fit -
or not - based on their own view of this country.
It is not something that can be
enforced or
required.
At the point where anyone begins to speak of
"unfit to be allowed the privilege of being an American" as a consequence of another individual's
political views or
philosophy, it becomes
CRAZY TALK - in direct contravention of what the Constitution states, and what the Founding Fathers apparently thought:
"All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside ........ "
In essence, such a statement is a call to replace a
BIRTH RIGHT ....... with some ....
thing .....that one might find being
granted by a king or monarch of Europe:
the privilege of citizenship, with some sort of a political litmus test substituting itself for an oath of fealty ........
I cannot imagine anything more repugnant or abhorrent to the Founders .....
I hate seeing how we are trying to LOWER our standards to that of Europe or Central America.
Well, if that's truly the case, then stand up for what we as a country truly represent - and speak out against such
crazy talk -
that seeks to place us in exactly the position of what you claim to hate.
The selective quoting, by a politician, of the Declaration, US Constitution, or anything else, in a
political speech,
IS NOT something which merits the contemplation
denial of the
right of citizenship, to those that legitimately hold it.
Such a thing is silly ....
almost beyond belief.
