Bad luck or discrimination?

I was told by Tri-State that there Insurance Company would not let them hire me account of my age 71 at the time. .....If that is not age discrimination, what else could it be?

If that's exactly what happened and said. Yes it is the age discrimination. Now if you have the solid evidence and/or reliable witness to support your claim, you will have a very strong case. However, age discrimination cases are tough to win.

Disclosures: I'm not an attorney, above post is just an opinion:)

Company Policy that the Insurance Company has a huge part in.................

I'm quite sure that if you agreed to cover the Difference in Insurance Premiums that your age sets in play that Tri-State may reconsider your application. ;)

I was not given an option to do that!

Oops! My wrong. Just did some more searches; there are several states that have clauses that it is legal to refuse employment of a person age 70 and older. I arrested my case and will leave this thread now, lol.

The company I work for currently had to force one of our coworkers to retire a few years ago. He was one of the original drivers hired and had been a driver for them for 43 years. He could run circles around half of us... It all came down to the insurance companies would no longer allow him to drive hauling hazmat in our tankers anymore. He was one heck of a driver, a great employee, and was loved and new almost all of our customers. It's sad really, many decisions today are completely based on liability...

I hope they offered him something if he wanted to keep working. Safety, customer service, dispatch assistant.
After 43 years with one company he should be able to go out on his choice of timing.

Few months ago I tried to put a driver with Bolt, but they rejected him based on a small car crash he had one year ago, where the damages were under $500. Two weeks ago I tried to put another driver with the same Bolt, but once again they rejected the driver because of a speed ticket from 2007 and a parking ticket from last year. Both drivers are originally from Europe, but also American citizens. The "funny" part is that both of them were hired by different companies after the Bolt episode, so I'm asking myself as well as y'all, is this bad luck or discrimination?

Well, be happy that bolt did not accept them because bolt is a crappy company anyways.

I know, but at bolt if you don't turn down any crappy load, they'll keep you busy. What's more, the guys from the Charlotte office rock, compared to the a.h. from Toledo.

One of my drivers recommended me RJR, but I don't know too much about them. From what I read here, on EO, they're avoidable...
