Bad luck or discrimination?

Few months ago I tried to put a driver with Bolt, but they rejected him based on a small car crash he had one year ago, where the damages were under $500. Two weeks ago I tried to put another driver with the same Bolt, but once again they rejected the driver because of a speed ticket from 2007 and a parking ticket from last year. Both drivers are originally from Europe, but also American citizens. The "funny" part is that both of them were hired by different companies after the Bolt episode, so I'm asking myself as well as y'all, is this bad luck or discrimination?

Insurance companies are finicky, combine that with a zealous safety department and you most likely have the reason why they were not hired. Just my opinion.

I'd say a lotta curses and bad words about these insurance companies, but it won't help. I don't have tickets nor accidents, but even so they raised my payment from 220 a month to 600 a month, that's while some other drivers I know, with tickets and/or accidents pay under 400...

Don't know why insurance rates were so low to begin with down here...I mean these insurance guys talk to each other....Rates in Canada have been high years ago....2 moving violations are a guaranteed $1.000 a year there and about and that is personal driving...business driving and you'd be in the 1,000's of dollars$$$$......seems the US companies have awoken to the reality.

Most likely neither of the above. There are other resources that the HR department uses to determine the applicants. Background check, credit reports, auto insurance score, etc.


The auto insurance score is calculated using data from the credit reports to determine the likelihood that the applicant will file the claim. It's not based on the driving records.


You'll be surprise how much they knew about your drivers. Now that's is good luck that your drivers were hired by the other companies, lol :)

If Bolt hired a wasp with a worse record, you could think discrimination..
The fact that Ceva hired them just shows they have easier guidelines.
Ceva may be self-insured.

Sounds like either drive correctly or be a perfect person or take the bus. Lots of judgmental perfect people work in insurance companies. Guess they love the power of " gotcha,,didn't I" by controlling your life by their sphere of power playing..aaw, the power of the little people in the high chair of loftiness.

I doubt there's any discrimination. Different companies have different standards and requirements that must be met. With some companies it's mirror fogging. With others it's an actual set of minimum standards.

Upon closer exam...that speeding ticket should never had shown up....It has expired....3 yrs for most states and its gone....

Minor traffic offenses such as speeding will stay on your public record for 3 years in most states. Serious traffic offenses (DUI, reckless driving, etc.) is usually 10 years. But that is your public record. In reality, your driving record is your record FOREVER. That ticket your received when you were 16... it's on there. The speeding ticket you thought no one knew about because you went to traffic school... it's on there. It's just that most things over 3 years aren't public record, so insurance companies and the general public can't see it. Anyone within the legal system can see it, tho.

If a driver was rejected for a speeding ticket from 2007, it was because the driver volunteered that information, or because it was one whopper of a speeding ticket (usually 25 MPH or more over the limit, which will stay on your record for 10 years).

In any case, carriers who have a choice between drivers with no accidents or incidents, and those with neither, will usually choose the drivers with neither. It all depends on how badly they need butts in the seats.

Yep.......Process of Elimination......

If HR has 87 Applications in front of them for 1 Position.....Most will Eliminate the ones with even the least amount of Flaws / Incidents right from the get go so they can concentrate on the better qualified applicants.

And.........in this Job Market........even in "Contract Driver" Expediting.......I'm quite sure BOLT goes through dozens and dozens of Applications every day.......every week.......etc.

I was told by Tri-State that there Insurance Company would not let them hire me account of my age 71 at the time. I have a perfect driving record, 2 1/2M Mile, No Tix, No Accidents, high credit, Ins other scores. If that is not age discrimination, what else could it be?

Company Policy that the Insurance Company has a huge part in.................

I'm quite sure that if you agreed to cover the Difference in Insurance Premiums that your age sets in play that Tri-State may reconsider your application. ;)
