While this weekend I all but had my mind made up on an o/o and company to drive for - the job got filled. Then I turned to my second o/o and company and that got filled.
Therefore, I am sitting here in Fort Wayne, Indiana holding my self up back looking for someone to drive for.
I am 49-years old, owned my own company for 14-years, drove two years ago and am willing to stay out for weeks at a time to make some money.
At this time I only have chauffers license and can only drive a cargo van or maybe a sprinter.
So if there are any o/o out there looking for a driver give me a call on my cell phone at 260-740-9442 as I am able to start ASAP! Like I said I only have a chauffers license so I know my obtions are limited but am more than happy to drive a cargo van or sprinter or box truck whatever.
I will be getting at least a CDL-C with HazMat within the next 30-days but for now I need a job! FAST!

Try putting an add on here in the Free Classifields. The open Form is really not a good place to post a help wanted add. I'm just being honest.

Greg, your posts using NOW, FAST, ASAP suggest some level of desperation. Getting into expediting is a good goal but perhaps for the short term you need to look at other options and build some cash reserve for when you do start expediting.

No. I am not begging or anything and I have cash to live on. Unlike some people willing to sit at home and drink or eat the savings away I just want to drive. I sold my security business so it has nothing to do with the desperation for money - I just want to drive and survive. And I want to start as soon as possible - that simple!

I'm glad you are in an acceptable situation financially. I didn't mean any offense but there are some who come into the forum and are in a terrible situation and not looking into all their options.

None taken. I am just ready to get moving. While I understand that there can be alot of waiting around when you get into this business I can deal with that.
I am just sitting here waiting for an o/o to call and want the best fricken driver he can get for a cargo van.

Greg,

I don't know if anyone mentioned this yet, but talk with the companies. Many times they have a list of O/O's who are looking for qualified drivers to fill the seat.

Thanks. I have been doing that - just they act like I am bothering them. I amsure they get paid bonus for bringing vehicles not drivers on. But thanks.

Greg it could be possible that the wording in your posts are causing potential o/o's from hiring you. With the situation you are in concerning your license it is obvious that the only vehicle you will be able to drive is a van,and only with companies that don't require a CDL.You go on to say that you will be getting your CDL soon.Perhaps the van o/o's are afraid to hire you if they think that you will leave them in a very short time period and move up to a larger vehicle.

I am willing to get a B CDL for sure, however, right now I still need to work make some money and the only way to get that going is to hit the road with what I can. So, great thought and maybe you can still help me I don't know. If you can great give me a call at 260-740-9442 and if I dont answer leave your number - heck I will call back.

At the risk of being redundant, this leads back to what I said about looking into other options now and looking for the driving job in a month or two when you have the CDL. Many more doors will open with it than are now, not only with larger trucks but also adding companies that require CDL and/or hazmat for van operators.

I do indeed understand that, I really do, however, I just prefer to drive now on my chauffeurs license and get my cdl in a month or two during a two day break.
Now, I understand some o/o may not want to hire me thinking I would leave once I got my cdl, but I can assure them (and you) that I would stay with that person because of their dedication they showed me to get me started.
I come from the old school - they help me - I help them. I help them and then they help me!
Old school! Its rare - but I still think it works and its' out there!
