Average Miles

ok CV here...this info is as of yesterday....i stayout an avg of 20-33 days at a time. I have been out of service for my personal time and an accident with the truck that caused a 2 week down time, but the a total of 7 wks since the 1st of the yr. probably not great my industry norms, but enough to make others whine to our dispatchers:

63 trips

30208 loaded miles

3651 DH miles

I have no idea (because i don't keep track of it) how many empty mile moves that i take on my own after waiting for an avg of 36 hrs for a load, but i can tell you it would be 3-4 times as many as DH miles....i refuse to sit in one please too long, my choice.....

so, i know its not all the info some would want. but it is enough fo run my business and make a profit...hope it helps...

Thanks for the help. :)

Tis ok OVM, but don't want to answer the wrong question if my in-put wasn't welcome. Was just trying to help. See, I am greedy, stingy, penny pinching, but above all of these things, I try to help those I can. We all need a helping hand at sometime or other and if I can help someone with a little info then by all means why not help them.

When I drop a load you can bet I'm gonna haul a$$ to the nearest hot spot just as fast as my little wheels will carry me in the hopes of beating anyone else there and getting loaded. BUT if I get there and your already there, I want you to get a good load too, I would never begrudge you or anyone else a load. When I say a prayer to the good lord to see me loaded I ask the good lord to see my fellow drivers loaded as well. Why, cause we're all in this world togeather and we're all trying to make a living. We all deserve the help of our peers, kindness and happiness. Tis just this thing we call life.

As I am new on these boards, I am probably doing a REPEAT post and in the wrong place at that. I'm sure SOMEBODY will let me know that.

I am interested in knowing if any of you fine Cargo Van / Sprinter Van expedite drivers would mind sharing your average mileage from Jan - May. Especially like to hear from Panther drivers, though all would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help and EVEN for the abuse that I'm sure is forthcoming.
:)
I drive a cargo van extended for Panther and last week I only had 2 loads one for 130 miles and the other for 163 miles. This week I've had over 2100 miles already with a load from Toledo to Texas, and then Texas to South Carolina. U can usually find me in the June Locations thread.

<<<U haven't heard of the EO initiation ceremony?? LOL just kiddin....

Received a PM from loner1 wanting to know why I deleted my post if I was offended. Here is my reply incase anyone else is wondering the same. :)

My reply to Loner1's pm:

"No, you absolutely did not offend me. I felt I offend one of the van drivers with my post and did not mean to offend anyone. I will admit I must have not read the post closely the first time as I did not realize you were asking van drivers for their info. I mis-read it as your wanting info on how much we expediters were making. OVM just pointed out my mistake to me. I tend to think of all of us expediters as a unity and not as vans, straights or TT's. I see us as all doing the same service with no differenciate." :D

So no I was not offended, nor did I mean to offend. We are all in this expediting togeather. It doesn't matter if we are in a van, straight truck or tractor, we are all kindred in what we do. We should all work togeather, regardless. It is always ok to want a good load, but never begrudge another theirs! Never see a fellow expediter as "the competition", see them as a peer. Always be willing to help a fellow expediter be it Tri-State, Express 1, Panther, Fed Ex or any other company and also be willing to accept help from others. There are those in this business that know more then we do and I am always willing to listen to good advice. Remember if we, the expediter, are to survive we need to work togeather and know we can rely on one another.

Thank you aileron, it is from the heart and how I feel toward my fellow expediters. We expediters are a family and family always looks out for each other. :)

I'll give you one point....some are peers yes....but still I am an "individual" Owner Operator.....this is not a collective....I outfit my truck so I can win loads from others that have not done so....It IS competitive even between same carrier. While we can be buds, I am still out to get the load before you. :D

*LOL*

total....3013 for a 7 day period...

you want numbers, you got numbers
DH was about 214 miles with I was renumerated $100.00!

Those are good miles OVM. But what were the rates on them? The rate are killer when you are only getting .70 cents per mile and a small fuel surcharge.

2 are CV NLM rate, the 1572 was a buck..they are tossing us some DH and tolls which help bump the rate a little.

Yeah. It should be more about revenue as opposed to miles. But things aren't going to go back to the way they were. Right now i'm running overflow loads in southern California for three major expedite carriers. I grossed almost 1100 last week off of 700 loaded miles. I do pretty good rate wise out here, but what kills it is the deadhead back home. The only reason I can actually save money doing it this way is because I am home most every night and it is very cheap for me to operate out of the house. I only spend 200 a month on food as opposed to 20 dollars a day when I was on the road. I do all of my own maintenance here, wash the van for free, take free showers, free laundry, and I do not have to spend money idling my truck. I am very thankful that I am able to run lean and survive these hard economic times.
