August 2010 locations

A fusible link in the cable running for the alt to the battery went bad and took out the alternator. Had the alt alternator wiring harness, idler pully and belt replaced. $1642.00. Sprinter owners need to check that cable and link it is a bad design. Eb sent me a link to a sprinter thread on another site about the same cable causing battery problems.

Well phone just rang Indy to Hastings Michigan.

I have my appointment scheduled for Wednesday to look at said cable and alternator. Hopefully my alternator won't be part of the deal.

FINALLY got a good run!! Picking up tomorrow in Cripple Creek, CO. Heading for NJ. WHEW. We are SO happy to have this mess come to an end!!

Dang LOS, you haven't gotten paid yet. But Cripple Creek would be a fun place to be stranded.

Holy cow...250 for alternator, 65 for belt 70 for pulley...that harness must have been expense?

Alternator - $393.00 belt -86.76 wiring 173.69 pulley 215.00 remember this is an 07 but the alternator was even cheaper than the only aftermarket one I found which was napa and would take 3 days to get. These were all from the dodge dealer.

Yea, sorry we missed each other, it would of been nice to meet up with you.

Met up with aristotle today as I was leaving to get my load, real nice guy. He was leaving also to get a load, and was really happy with who he is leased to.

My load has not yet come across the border yet.....

Got the nicest looking blue sprinter parked next to me, an 06 model, real nice.And shiny !!!

Priced out the A/C parts I may need, not sure yet, but the compressor, drier,condenser, hose,orifice tube would come out to around 1,200, give or take, labor not included..The a/c now is working fine, with the idle raised up, or going down the road, but I hear a chirping noise coming from the compressor at an idle.Death is near.lol.

Had all that replaced on my 03 Yukon, it was around 1,200, that included labor belt and tensor for A/C, new compressor etc. Compressor locked up and broke the compressor belt and tensor. Death could be near.....

We are now sitting in Cripple Creek. Had a nice evening and GREAT tacos. We talked with the people at our pickup. They are ready for us. No truck stop here. We are parked next to an old Pullman car. Kinda quiet and NOT stinky!!

My chirp ended up being the Idler pulley...
another drivers "chirp" was his alternator...it may not be your AC...a can of belt dressing should kill the chirp...
