Ok gang...:D

You are picking a marginal money wise load in Toledo going to Pittsburgh....Customer won't pay tolls. Truck size aside it is going to cost YOU.....Now do you take the toll road? OR take Hwy 2 or US 20 across and be right on time or be a few minutes late...and in your mind you are saying..."heck if they can't pay the tolls then I am not taking the roll road...."

2and 20 are not that bad if your in a cv or sprinter ,st trk or tt is a little slower but doable if there is agood window of time you should make it on time , from my past experience they didnt want it when you got there anyway, but your co. Probably gave you a del.time and they will track you to see if your close.
If not youll get that call[are you rolling ] or a ph.call asking if there is a problem when in reality you have already del. And they cant find you on qc.tolls is another subject i try and squeez all i can out of them with forced dispatch they have you over a barrel.

Chicago to Cleveland or Youngstown is another cash drain....100% tolls...
If the customer can't afford to pay tolls then they can't afford my services....

It all depends on where the run is going and how many miles involved.
New Jersey to Chicago with no tolls I decline.
Calexico, CA to Long Island I ate the tolls to get the 3216 mile run.
And I would much rather use toll roads then "back roads".

If I worked for Load-1, Express-1, Panther or FedEx, I would expect the company to eat the cost of the tolls.

Load 1 tolls are covered.....

The others I would and that is just me....think that even if the carrier applied even just 5%of the line haul or scrapping off the top of the FSC profit....or their 30% profit margin it would cover the tolls cost.....

I'd call my lawyer and see what my contract says about who is to pay tolls. Hehehehe!

Ain't it fun?

So I would assume that because you are driving for a cheap company that needs to work a 30% margin on every load when others are working with a 15% margin, they are incapable of actually setting themselves up to have constant cash flow and have to capture any and all work from load boards by bidding cheap and making the van owner pay for their stupidity to run the company at 30%.

I think the question should be, why are you working for less than $1.50 in a van?

Or...Why are carriers bidding themselves out of the market?

Who's not getting toll money? Heck, even Bolt used to give me 50-60 dollars in toll money. The only time I do not worry about toll money is when the load is really good. But for shorter loads, they have to pay me more per mile to cover the cost of tolls.

Because they need a carrier to hold their hand and guide them and the carriers know this. Thats why there only making a buck a mile or less.

On the FedEx flat rate program tolls assistance is only offered if the customer is charged tolls.
When accepting a load going through the toll booth states a driver has to be careful and check to see if any toll money is offered and then decide whether or not to accept the load. Tolls can quickly eat into the profit for a load.

Does anyone have a US Map that shows just the toll roads and bridges and tunnels?
