I made a BIG pot of vegetable beef soup yesterday - I love the rice cooker! :D

PS You don't need a gym to exercise, either - use what you got! Put on some 'bouncy' music while driving in the middle of the night, and try dancing in the seat. 'Where there's a will', you know......:)

Wasn't somewhere a discussion of portion control?

If you have a BIG POT of soup, most people who can't figure out that they need to put some away will eat it, especially those who figure they need that TRUCKER SIZED meal.

By the way veggie soup sounds good.;)

Yep let's promote dancing in our seats and put the truck in the ditch or swerve in our lane. :p

Costco, 315 bucks 2 year 24 hour fitness membership, I'm getting it because then I can get to a gym every now and then. To me it's cheap and not bein in a big truck anymore should be easy to show up there.

I won't eat it all in one sitting, promise.

Tis - if you're near Detroit, shoot me a PM, I got enough to share, for sure.

Never have yet, maybe because I include Robert Earl Keen's "You keep a 'swervin in my lane [and it's causin lots of danger]" in the lineup, even though it's not the right beat for bouncing, lol.
Seriously: all it takes is the commitment to eat better and move more - don't need diets or gyms, just decide to do it however you can.

I've considered my situation, and it's not so much the diet as it is the movement or the lack thereof that's the deciding factor. Last year at this time I had a route with thirty or so stops on it, lifting cartons of paper, climbing stairs, a good deal of walking, climbing into and out of the van--- it all involves a good deal of exercise throughout the entire working day and I was able to eat a fair amount and still lose weight. Over a period of four years I lost nearly forty pounds.

Since April of this past year, I've been doing expedited, and that seems to involve only slightly more movement than you get in your recliner at home while watching TV. Next to no lifting, negligible climbing, and so little walking that we may safely discount it for any practical purpose. I hate to admit I've gained back all that weight but--- yeah. So, I'm just going to have to make myself get out and exercise some.

People that eat like that will eat to excess if it is a big pot of supper or several sandwiches from McDonalds at once. Unless they change personal habits setting a small plate of food or a big one in front of them will not change their daily intake.

That was a joke right?

Try Jack in the box for a breakfast Jack .99 to 1.29 per real egg cheese and thin slice of ham. If you want eat 2 only would cost 3 bucks with tax not counting coffee. Just skip the potatoes from the fryer.

Subway for a chicken and spinach salad, at the ones that have the spinach. oil and vinegar dressing just enough to coat after shaking salad in the container. only 5 bucks plus tax plus a drink either water or milk for me.

Their are ways to eat healthy while on the road, we just forgot as a industry how to do it. Plus there are ways to get to a gym because most of us don't drive a TT. Small trucks and vans got to love it when it comes to getting around

Better then eating in a restaurant and cheaper.

Looks can be deceiving 1 breakfast jack has about a third of your daily sodium needs, two would put you a third of the way to your daily calorie needs and two thirds the way to your sodium intake. The salad is a pretty good choice.

I worry less about the sodium intake since my other mills have less sodium in them. My calorie intake is my main concern. I have got it down to 1500 on average per day.

I guess the sodium either comes from the bun or ham.

It's official: I'm in trouble now. The bathroom scale tells the tale.

Last year at this time, I was about 160 lbs, and going lower it seemed every few days. Right now, I'm just under 200 lbs. On a 5'6" frame, that can't be good.

I make a point, generally, of staying shy of the fast food offerings. McDonalds has become ubiquitous, and frankly I begin to hate that clown. Still, I manage to eat a trifle more than is good for me, now that I think about it, and do considerably less to burn it off than I used to. Funny thing is, the apartment complex I live at has a mini-gym at the clubhouse, and that gym has a few torture racks--- whoops, I mean exercise machines-- available. They also have a passable basketball court, and it wouldn't hurt me to shoot a few baskets. I used to be not too shabby at it, maybe I can still hit a basket or three.

It's taken most of us years to pack on the pounds, nice and slow is how we put on the weight.

Our lifestyle has everything to do with the weight gain. We work up to 16 hours a day when we work. No time for anything but to eat sleep no excersize. TR's are worse since most do that everyday. We need to work less and excersize more.
