So, you've been a vanner for years now. Are you any better off today than you were 8 years ago or 5 years ago. If your a straight truck driver or Sprinter person, jump in. Are there things you would not do again? What would you do differently today if you were starting over?

Five yrs ago I was paid at least $1/mi. Paid dh too. The fuel price was were it was. I was taking long vacations. Never complained about the miles I was getting. Today I drive for less, I pay the insurance 5 times more. No paid dh. What's more, they started cheating on mileage, paying less when you want to go home, claiming that he/she barely got it for that price.

If you mean better off financially no. As of today I am older, wiser and more mature than when I first got into expediting. For sure I'm older!

When I started expediting I was making about the same per mile as I am now and there was no fsc. Gas was under a dollar for a time and I paid .79/quart oil with coupon. Gas is running about $3.55 this week and oil is 3.13/quart. Everything costs more, yet my rate hasn't increased, but I am older and keep surviving so I guess that's something. I should work on the wiser and more mature stuff.

Well, I have been a "vanner" for longer than that, but not all as an expediter. I can honestly say, though, that I feel more like I do now than I did before.

well,,5 or 6 folks said something, guess the other 5000 or so are doing great and no problems, but it is a high turnover business, so good stats are hard to find...................

I'm doing so great I retired! Of course it was because I'm getting too old, (oh. and the fact my wife insisted!)

At the time I did pull the keys, I was doing as well as I ever had.
