$45 where I go in Toledo. At least it was this past Jan.

not bad..I paid $75 for mine last month..co-driver did too, last month..then had to go to cat's dr, two weeks later, and pay $60.

Bruno, its all about the BMI and the some Dr's pushing to get it added to the DOT regs...do some digging about which Dr's are pushing for it and you will see some interesting results.

....really?...where are you getting D.O.T. physicals for less than $60 bucks?

Med Group in Stow, Ohio does Dot physicals for $40.00 for alot of trucking companies. Urgent Care in Green does them for $40.00. My Doctor does them for $40.00 but I pay for all the lab work as he does blood work too.

Being a big guy that can pass any Dot Exam. I have a great stats, BP 112/59 heart is great and just got a clean bill of heath. The doctor just said I need to lose some weight before I do have heath problems. The problem is a carrier trying to ask drivers to do things that is not in the DOT regs. Carriers can only do that with EMPLOYEES. Read the FMCSR 391.41 and you will understand. Asking a guy to het a sleep study because he has a 17 inch neck is uncalled for.

You are correct . This was a big issue while back and FMCSA does not use neck size or BMI as a criteria in qualification . The physician is supposed to question the driver about past history of sleep apnea , fatigue , or sleeping problems . It's the discretion of the doctor whether to reject and require testing .
I think if the testing shows no problem the doctor that recommended it should foot the bill for it and be held liable for lost driver wages . That would sure change a lot of attitudes toward testing based on neck size or BMi

Are you a employee if the company you want to lease on with makes you get a DOT physical at there home office? Dot regs says you must get a physical but it does not say you have to get it at the carrier your leased on with. A few companies are making drivers come to there office to see a Dr that just looks for every reason to find a way to fail the driver. The IRS says that this makes the driver a employee not a contractor. Go to this site. The carriers that are doing this are really making drivers employees.

Check it out on Independent Contractor (Self-Employed) or Employee?

Yup I went and read it. I believe eveyone should go read this.

Bruno, if you or someone you love is having problems with a company mandated physician or clinic for DOT physicals, seek legal advise! I'm sure a creative attorney could put the fear of God into a company simply by bringing up the ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) or the SPE (Skills Performance Evaluation) waiver in regard to neck size or body mass index as a disqualifying factor.

If a company mandated physician fails you on a DOT physical because of neck size or BMI and you can pass a DOT physical from any other doctor, demand a separation notice from the company and tell them you want to collect unemployment. If you feel like you are being treated like an employee, you might as well get the benefits entitled to an employee.
