APU

I have a Powerpac Apu by powertech and need to get its first oil change. I went to speedco and they do it but have 15w40 oil. The owners manual calls for 10w30. Does anyone have this unit and what oil do you use. unit only has 60 hours on it they call for first chang 50-60 hours and every 500 hours after that. Doesnt that seem long.
Also does this seem to be a good system.

I forgot to mention it has a 2 cyl Cat diesel engine

call the dealer and ask them if 15-40 is ok I have a Blackrock unit with a yanmar 2 cyl. and after talking with them they said that 15-40 would be fine, also I have a 1000 hr oil change schedule so 500 hrs doesn't seem out of line good luck with your new APU

15W40 will be fine in this case unless you really beat the engine, which is impossible in a stationary application. Change it at the recommened time and think about getting a bypass filter installed.

When I did the Disaster Recovery thing, we would tell the clients who had mechincal staff that the change is not noticible nor hurts the engine as long as it is changed at the recommended time.
