What happened regularly at my last 2 carriers....LOL
EDIT.....make that my last 3 carriers..my Canadian carrier dispatchers must have been trained in the US.....they were the same way...."we will call you back"

Yup....last update I got was we don't know who the broker is...and that was at 23:53 last night. Original pickup time was 15:30 yesterday, that turned into 18:30.
be prepared to make a deal.....you know in all likely hood you'll never see all that wait time...been there done that....
they'd ask me what do you think a fair rate would be....I'd say what the contract says....they'd respond with...Lets be reasonable...

They don't like my "reasonable rate" for Canada crossing, I don't take it for less. Reasonable enough.

Ya...that's the beauty of being an American...you don't have to take Canada loads...
its little things like "wait time"...detention time that is slowly disappearing to reduce our income....even stop charges are harder to squeeze out of brokers because some clown is willing to do it just to get the load...and I will include myself in the 3 ring circus as I've been reduced to doing the same thing, unfortunately...one can starve to death holding onto the principles of good business or just compromise...Iam tired of the compromising...Time to get out...I feel for the good members trying to make a just living out here....you are going to have a tough road...there are just too many of "Them" to plug up the drain..
John used to make fun of me....in a nice way of course...I was the Only Canadian he had onboard that won't do Canada loads....LOL.....after almost 10 years at Dynamex and doing x border sometimes 3-4 times a day...and that was when we had to go "in" to see broker...never again...

The person who does our customs stuff between 10am and 6pm is phenomenal... rarely an issue and if there is...you get updates. Outside of those hours if there is even the slightest hiccup the wheels fall off and all goes dark.....it's soul crushing.
