I have to admit I have never been able to comprehend the line of thought that offending people is something good. Some people even seem to be proud of the fact. I kind of see it as more of an excuse for saying whatever they want being OK to do.

Depends on the situation and person...for example the groups I belong to on Facebook are about politics, religion, etc. So someone is bound to get offended by someone else's opinion. We take the attitude in most groups that offending someone is okay (not name calling etc but offending their thought on the subject) because it forces us to really examine our beliefs on a subject and makes us think.
Aside from that I am a generally offensive person because I say exactly what I think without sugar coating it and some people don't appreciate that. I've learned to take pride in the fact that when a friend wants a brutally honest opinion they come to me and at this point in my life aside from a handful of people I really don't care much what people think. So I've embraced my inner offensive "b"! It's liberating IMHO!

Did not intend to give the impression I never offend anyone but it is not intentional. If I find out I did it actually bothers me. Not even saying anyone is wrong for doing it I just always have trouble wrapping my head around it. Just one of those personal struggles most have.

I think I found that line that will get a person banned, speaking your mind usually will and speaking it in a court of public opinion apparently speeds up the process!

Sorry spongebox but that's bull people do it all day long on here. Its how one says something not what they say. To add freedom of speach refers to political speak not anything we want it to at the moment. In the end this is a privately owned site not the public square.

I was told today if I have an issue with anyone or anything EO is not the place to discuss it, its not bull its what I was told in a message from an admin, freedom of speech had no boundaries I thought, I chose my words wrong and infuriated end that is what I made amends towards, I'm not sorry I said what I was thinking!

Freedom of speach has many boundaries and all very legal. It was never intended to allow people to say anything anytime or place they choose and it certainly does not apply to a privately owned web site.

Like I said I spoke my opinion and said how I felt and for that I'm not seeking amends

You have no freedom of speech in the forum. Period. This does not violate the 1st amendment. You are comparing apples and oranges if you think so. Let us give you a quick civics lesson for those who weren't paying attention in school.

Quote:

1st Amendment - Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Notice that this amendment mentions the agreement that congress shall make no law prohibiting free speech. We are not the US government nor are we passing US legislation, hence we fall outside of this rule. This is a privately controlled forum and moderation may be used when necessary. We are not unlike any other private entity, and you are essentially a guest in our house. Your 'freedom' to post in this forum extends only as far as we say it does.
