Anyone here tried taking college classes on line while trucking?

I have enrolled at Delta college in Bay City Michigan, however when I enrolled I signed up to take on-line courses simply because I was not sure where employment would put us. As it turns out all the classes I need to get my degree in busisness management are available on-line. College proff's are available via the net or phone calls for help.

I have shopped around and Delta was the best choice, More accrediaitions, easy access and far more less expensive then those universities adverstised on TV. Delta offered more classes on line then many in this state.

so i was just woundering if anyone else has done such a thing while trucking and if so how did it work for you? and if not, why?

I must admit that taking my first math class in over 30 years has not been easy, in fact algebra is a trip LOL

When I started driving I thought I would study a foreign language. It turned out to be a great distraction. Most of my time was spent stratergerizing and surviving in my job. Going on four years driving I'm just getting to the point I MIGHT try it again. If you need the degree then maybe you will have more motivation to follow through.

I have taken several on line classes through Grantham University that is sponsored by OOIDA. They are really fun to take and the online classes here are perfect for drivers as there is not any structured online chat times as I have there is with the University of Phoenix classes. One of the problems I ran into with Grantham was some of the classes have a proctored exam and I found it very difficult to be on the road and try to find someone the University would approve of.
When we started slowing down one of the first things I cut out of our budget was my online classed but I hope after the first of the year to start these up again.

I'm thinking this could be a challenge, but hey, life is a challenge.

I did recieve a grant for the winter semester, hard to turn that down.

I will be sure to check out the web site.

Phoenix was way to expensive ..Busisness Management Associates degree is $20,000.00:confused:

Just some on topic information based on doing Back Ground Investigations that might help ya'll:

Make sure the online classes are from an accredited and accepted university, there are people that will take your money and give you a worthless piece of paper. Rule of thumb, if the government recognizes them for student aid, loans etc., you are alright.

Read the fine print, priorities change and some have a no refund or no reschedule policy, if you can't take the class because of work constraints etc., too bad.

Lastly, there are programs commonly referred to as credit banks, Excelsior in NY comes to mind. These Schools are fully accredited and recognize classes taken previously, to include all military training, technical training etc.

Best of luck!
