Anyone know how much it is to replace a starter on a Sprinter?

A starter for an 2002-2006 Sprinter at a dealer is gonna be $967 for a reman Valeo or $1311 for a spankin' new Bosch. They are 24k gold plated and encrusted with diamonds.

Same exact alternators at Europarts are $215 (plus $100 core) and $259 (no core). Well, those aren't gold plated or have the diamonds on them. Rock Auto is in the same ballpark as Europarts. So is NAPA. Autozone is $189 plus a $56 core.

At 558,488 miles, I still have my original starter.

Sooooo, now that I've said that, I expect mine to just explode tomorrow.

Are you sure its not the fuel gelling in this bloody cold weather ?

It may not be the starter, it could be batteries or alternator or whatever; but if it is the starter, I have a 2006 that I got from Wayne Rodd in Toledo a couple of years ago, but did not need it.
2003 - 2006 is same starter. I will let it go for $100.00, or you might check with Wayne also.
