Not Me, I was in Blaine Sunday and didn't see one Expeditor Truck..I Left the Truck at Yorkies and caught a Cab back 25 miles to Civilization and then a Plane Home, What a Hole.

Last week? I think I recall seeing your truck parked there. We don't see too many of them. The one I saw yesterday was at the scale in BC and looked like they turned it back.

I live in that "hole" btw. Next time your around send a note ahead of time, maybe I can save you the cab fare.

I delivered to Annacis Island this morning. Now I'm down at the beautiful Ferndale Truck Stop where I await the passage of time before I go pick up one in Surrey tomorrow. Then I get to count the minutes before I hit both Snoqualmie and Cabbage. I'm so excited. I can't wait.

I pick up on Annacis every day, where did you drop at? In fact you are just 12 miles south of me. If leave that posh truck stop and drive into town there is a REALLY good Mexican restaurant about two miles from you.

I delivered to Sepp's Gourmet Foods, first exit off the bridge, turn right, then right at the light, then stop and over the RR tracks, left, go pass Martin Brower, then on the corner to the left on Annance Ct.

They are dock high only, and I'm not. Ended up having a flatbed tow truck come, lower the bed to match my deck, used the winch chains to drag the 2000 pound skid onto the flatbed, then raise the bed to the dock to get me unloaded. Should have delivered Thursday night at 2030, ended up delivering about noon on Friday. It was fun.

PS - snow in the forecast tonight/tomorrow.

Yeah, 1-2 feet in the Cascades with the heaviest snowfall being between Stevens and Snoqualmie. Looks like Snoqualmie is not an option that I want to deal with, if it even stays open at all. I might be able to squeeze through down along the Columbia River on I-84 ot of Portland. Ironically, it looks like the Sierra Nevadas are free and clear. But that'll add 400 miles to the trip.


This is what it looks like through Snoqualmie when, an hour ago there was no snow, and now, suddenly, there is.

Nothing like the warm and fuzzy of being at a dead stop through the pass because a couple of trucks jack-knifed at the chain-up and took out each other, as well as both lanes.

Two hours earlier, green grass, blue sky, dry roads. Man, it can get mean in a hurry up there.

A tip, don't drive over Snoqualmie Pass after they've actually closed it down, and especially don't take pictures while you're driving across if after they've closed it down, especially of you don't have tire chains.

This is what it looks like through Snoqualmie when, an hour ago there was no snow, and now, suddenly, there is.

Guess that's what you could call being dumped on, huh?

Yep, dumped on is right. It was pretty intense. I've seen it snow a lot, and I've seen it snow hard, but that was just nuts. And it's actually worse right now (2300 Saturday night), and will get much worse throughout the night and into Sunday afternoon. 1-2 feet in the passes, much more in the higher elevations. Avalanche warnings above 5000 feet (Snoqualmie is, I think, about 3000-3500 feet, but some of the other passes are higher).

I took a pass on Snoqualmie Pass and came on down to Portland. I'm at the J on I-84, contemplating whether to just stay on the big road and go I-84 over to Idaho and then take US 95 down to Golconda, NV (actually, a gold mine 35 miles north og Golconda, with Golconda being about 15 miles east of Winnemucca. But that will mean dealing with Cabbage Pass, which is way more steep than Snoqualmie and gives me the willies in July. The other option is to take the, uhm, back roads down through the more remote sections of Oregon, US 26 to 20, then at Burns jump on 78 over to US 95 and then on down.

The upside to taking US 26 down is that I'll get a real up-close and personal, reach-out and touch it, look at Mt Hood.

That's also the downside.

I was there last Sunday night, as the rocket surgeons I subcontract for couldn't figure out with a phone call that the soda pop bottling place had been open on the Saturday when I really could have delivered the load. To top it off, I got these really wonderful two sets of directions on the QC (sarcasm intended) that really well acquainted our truck and the towns of Vancouver, Surrey, White Rock, and Delta, BC.

I typically enjoy almost everything about Canada, but I was happy to be out of there very early monday morning.
