Any wonder?

Is it any wonder that our Country is a mess and our politicians have been able to take control of us? What is wrong with people? A riot over shoes?

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — More than 100 law enforcement officers in riot gear broke up an out-of-control crowd waiting to buy a new basketball shoe timed to be released during the NBA All-Star Game in Orlando.

Authorities say there were no injuries or arrests late Thursday outside the Florida Mall. The crowd began getting unruly as hundreds packed the parking lot as they waited to buy the $220, limited-edition Nike shoe.

The Orlando Sentinel (http://thesent.nl/zA9X4T ) reports the crowd was asked to wait across the street when the mall closed. But one person ran toward Foot Locker and others followed. Authorities formed a line and used shields to push back the crowd.

At a mall in Hyattsville, Md., police said Friday they arrested one person for disorderly conduct as a crowd of more than 100 awaited the shoe's release.

I have a theory on why this happens. We have so many safety laws in place that evolution has a limited chance to flush these idiots from the gene pool.

A contributing factor to be sure. I might be able to understand a riot over shoes if they did not have shoes and there was a shortage or something. A riot over $200 sneakers? It is just sick. Messed up priorities.

. There should be riots, but because they want to charge 200.00 bucks for a flippin tennis shoe.

$220 would get me 12 boxes of my favorite steel shot duck loads! Can't shoot ducks, or decoys, with shoes!! LOL!! Shoot $220 would pay for a dozen decoys from Toledo decoys! Those decoys would get well used as well.

They are armed the same way that cows and chickens are. Are you a vegan? Don't wear leather. Shoot hoops? How do you cook a 'hoop'? Are they as good tasting and as good for you as wild duck is? Where do they nest? What is the daily limit on hoops? They must be pretty easy to shoot if city 'dudes' can shoot them!

City dudes??? I grew up playing basketball on a dirt court. The rims had metal chain nets. Remember those?

I can understand shooting snakes. All snakes. Snakes must die on sight. My favorite scene from Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" was the snake-stomping scene. Yeah, I get the symbolism of a serpent representing evil or Satan. Forget Michael Jackson's foot-stomping magic. Jesus did it better.

Nope, did not play basketball on dirt or any other way. Played hockey, hunted and fished. Snake is pretty good eating too. Not as good as duck, but not bad.

I like snakes. They keep down the rats, mice and other vermin. They are, as all wild life, part of God's plan. Never saw Mel Gibson's movie about the passion. I already knew how it ended.

Please help me understand...of what possible value are they? More or less than a tulip bulb? Valuable to a greater degree than Lindsay Lohan's acting or whatever else she does?

Our society must be in fan-fricken-tastic shape for us to ascribe value to the things we do. You'd think we were all millionaires looking for things to blow our money on because it's pilling up and we're tripping over it.

Gold-plated toilet seat? Sure, why not? The toilet seat would be of more worth than a $200 pair of Air Jordans, even if they were the last pair on earth.

I would assume that some people collect them. Un-worn, in a good original box they may, if there are enough collectors, gain value in those circles.

I some now don't believe that Denny would be willing to riot of them.
