Well i can say my experience there was excellant.I would work 7 days out of the 2 week pay period and make on and average of about $2500 to $3000 not bad for only working 7 days. But i had to sell my truck do to family problems.Jeff curry, larry larson and all them guys over there are really nice and i wish i was still with them.If i ever buy another truck i will sign on with them.I know that there top driver for a fact was averaging over 10,000 loaded miles a month at a $1.15 not bad money......lol i seen the numbers with my own 2 eyes.Plus some of the comanys are paying tolls, fuel surcharge is adjusted to fuel price i would look in to it.I was going to go with fedex or panther II and i was glade i went to express-1..

Well times have changed there alittle.I think the whole time i was there i might have hauled 5 to 7 nlm loads. And they still paid almost full rate. With in a few cents. But i would rather haul something for a few cents less then play truck stop cowboy and spend money.I have it figured out what i need exactly to run my truck and make money. If they find a load that pays less then that i say no.Simple concept.

Well when it comes to NLM they use it to help get out of a bad area like missouri or Minneapolis.I got loads out of both them places on nlm and i got 1.05 per mile to go back towards a better freight spot.So i would rather haul for $1.05 then dead at for nothing or .15 a mile or so....Nlm can work to your advantage if you use your head about it and dont jump for every load that is offered from nlm.I would rather haul nlm then be a truck stop cowboy. And any more its not just the automotive industry using NLM.

I hope you haven't decided on express-1 yet. We drove 12 months for express-1 and that is how long it took that company to send us broke(actually less than that but we tried to hang in there). When first meeting the office staff, they are very friendly. But you will later liken them to second hand car salesmen. They want you for a reason. You and your truck equal dollar signs. If you want miles, make inquiries at Nations Express. Phone 1800-813-8788 and ask for Mary. We have been with Nations Express for over a year and have no regrets(yet). They beat express-1 hands down.

Welcome to the forum EMU. I was curious when your bad experience with Express-1 took place and also what area you work out of? Thanks, Andy

In reply to your question concerning Express-1, they are not an expediting company that I would recommend anyone signing on with! This company has serious in house problems, starting with employees of Express-1 being fleet owners. They also have what I like to call non-verbal forced dispatch, what I mean by that is Express-1 will tell you that you don't have to take every load, but when you refuse one they hold it against you. The dispatch group at E-1 is very corrupt they will tell you as an owner/operator that things are slow and no runs are coming out of an area that you are in and all the while they are pre-assigning in house fleet owned trucks loads right under your nose. Many owner/operators have had this happen to them. I personally have caught them red handed at this. There are also fleet owners that are getting a higher paid linehaul $1.20 per mile compared to your $1.12 and they were also giving a higher fuel surcharge to multiple truck owners I've heard as high as .13 cents a mile more than a single truck owner operator. Sorry to be so down on these guys but somebody has to tell it like it is. Express-1 is hiring trucks on every Monday and losing them at about a 70% clip, think about it!! Iam not a disgruntled ex-owner/operator, I am an owner/operator along with many others who have lived this night mare. OWNER/OPERATORS BEWARE OF EXPRESS-1

wow where is ovm he should be in here jumping!!! maybe its vacation time

Sorry was doing a Laredo to N. Charlston load...they 5 vans outta Laredo on Wednesday....

They own a fleet?? 2 old straight trucks and 1 sprinter...they must steal alot of loads considering the drivers all work days???

They pick-up the local crap the minis OTHER O/O's turn down and bring it back to cross dock later....and they do some South Bend to Chicago runs 86 miles they can't get O/O's to do....and some of them crappy Kelloggs minis that O/O's refuse to do....BUT when Kelloggs ships to Calif. or Wisc...there is no lack of O/O's.....getting my message?

Fleet owners as dispatch? Name one?

I think most carriers get a little offed when drivers turn stuff down...

I am not sayng E-1 is without faults...

I am with OVM. I have been with E-1 now for 10 mos. The load planners are very friendly and truely do try their best. They do not have a fleet.
Now if you are the type to cherry pick loads then yes you WILL go broke but if you take everything offered you will be very satisfied.
EVERY company has their pro's and con's but as a present O/O I say stay away but for purely selfish reasons cause you may take my load.:p
