Another Couple Of Months Of No Work I Hear

We all are so-happy you are so busy compared to the rest of us!
Would you please share with the rest of us who you haul for?

And you were offened about my statement I made, take your head out of the sand and read most of these posts it full of People like me who are fed-up living out of a back out of truck for weeks at a time with hardly no work, and being deadheaded all over just to turn down small runs that do not pay anything!

I would be willing to bet you do not even know any major fleet owners let alone talk to seven of them and ask about their opinions.

And when you said (Suck) in your reply I'm totally shocked by your language.

MexiAmerica: The land of opportunity for everybody except Americans.

I was trying to figure out what you said for a moment than it hit me, you are totally right.

Its our Government who is putting the boot to all Americans by selling out America to foreign County's.

Enron reported making 4.5 Billion in profits in the first quarter, and to think we all will never see a Christmas card this year from them.

Better days ahead just ask (Familyexpdt) They seem to be doing better than the rest of us.

I guess its true Panther does cater to fleet owners if your so-busy. I have read posts and recently talked to a big fleet owner who told me Panther is down by atleast 40% and the same for FedEx is way off the mark so far for this year.

I can't say I have encountered anyone that has indicated a 40 percent slow down except for some folks with the smaller carriers.
For the most part, boards that we have been arriving at, have had few trucks.
Just this week, we had trucks in Dallas, El Paso, and Laredo. At each time, we were the only trucks there. Same deal yesterday in Atlanta.

I don't believe it is a fleet owner issue, I think many are busy or out of service.

Maybe I have quickly became an expert, maybe I am just lucky, maybe I just roll the dice, I am not sure - but I generally sit when I want to sit and the 'Big Cat' has been able to keep me moving in general. In fact, I have become somewhat of a idiot for turning down so many load offers - based upon the load going somewhere I did not want to encounter, aka - New York, the hills of PN, etc.
Well, anyways - I really can say that I could keep moving if I really wanted to but some issues had come at home I needed to address over the last 30-days that I just have not ran really hard - but that is my choice.
I believe, that if you do your homework, if you talk to the right people, if you ask the right questions from those people, you learn the ins and outs of YOUR company and everyonce in awhile you just roll the dice and take a gamble or play the odds - you will make it.
Do not depend on ANYONE to do the work for you, the research, the learning - you only need yourself to reach your target. Pick your target, choose the 'weapons' to get to that target - then go out and perform your mission.
If you eliminate the obstacles, the negative bs, anything that can keep you from your target - you will reach it. Just put your mission into action instead of staying on this reaction mode we all seem to get onto.
Take the first step this week. Set your eyes on your target, be it a milage goal, an income goal, etc. Figure out what it will take to hit that target - acquire the weapons to hit that target and go out and run your mission!

So let me get it straight. You do your research, select a good company to run for, purchase the right type of equipt., make the right contacts, work your ##### off and achieve success as you define it and then you get flamed on this site. Interesting..

Well we are not a fleet owner and have also been very busy so maybe you will have to call us another name like maybe BROWN NOSER and boy is that funny...... because anyone who knows us would laugh themselves to death.....

I tend to agree with Babs, I am not a part of a fleet, unless you want to consider me part of "the black cat" fleet. Again I think it has a lot to do with the vehicle you choose or choose not to drive for whatever reason. I dont brown nose, dont do any favors, dont call and wine and complain unless there is a real problem, then it is handled in a polite but stern manner. So you can call it whatever you want, point is I have not been slow untill I want to be. I think the numbers you are claiming are a little over the top, could have started at 10-15% down then by the time it made it through 5 or 6 people it made it to 40% and now it has made it to another 100-200, somewhere somone is claiming 65-70% and we are all fixing to go out of buisness.

Do not let anybody tell you FedEx/Panther, or other major company's are doing good right now that is a crock of S--T

There was just a post on here in the last couple of weeks stating that Panther was looking to sign on another 30 or 40 vans within the next 30 days ...... doesn't exactly sound like the Big Kitty is slow to me ......

I am new to the forum but have been a cargo van fleet owner for 4 years with Panther (all cargos). I had a couple calls last week from Fed Ex drivers who were looking to switch to Panther because they were slow. I am sure that there is a lot to the equation (economy slow, too many vans, type of vehicle, outsourcing of jobs) We had our best month in February this year and really it has been average ever since then. I remember last year going through about 2 months of this and then it started to get moving. Probably with the fuel prices going up and lack of work the amount of equipment shrank with the economy moving better. I think its sad that these prognosticators and analysts and make predictions and cause fuel to spike like it does. Everything in my opinion is tied to that. I guess in the meantime its survival of the fittest. Hope things improve for everyone!

It is slow right now - I find it a little curious that those who claim to be having a record year, still have time to post on EO.

I will have to call BS on anybody who claims to be busy yet still has the time to hit the posting forums.

Unless you run under different HOS rules then there is plenty of time to post. Well, I guess if you run team and sleep the entire 10 hours the other person is driving you wouldn't have time. I doubt most people sleep 10 hours though. I'm guessing at least some of them come out from behind the wheel and then spend a little time behind the computer winding down before going to sleep. Expediting isn't OTR either with multiple jobs neatly lined out one behind the other for the next several days. There's the waiting time between jobs. I'm not saying it's busy. I'm not saying it isn't busy. I'm just saying before suggesting someone is lying because they say they are busy and still have time to post here to consider all the possibilities.

If any carrier is doing aerospace (hot, hot, hot)they are prolly running good and same for Cami(Transfrieght)Toyota (Transfreight, Linamar) and Honda into Canada. Honda has expansion plans for 2008 as well.
If your carrier is doing none of these then I'd hazard to guess your slower then most.
With the Hino plant (Toyota)expansion and the opening of Toyota Woodstock next year. The Canadian economy is flying and helping hold up the American side..If you don't do Canada your nuts!!!
Oh and did I mention Dodge in Brampton where the Charger is built? Just added a third shift.

For what its worth, after reading the forum and speaking to a couple of our drivers I called some people at Panther on our team and they are saying that they predict that this summer to be very busy. I know its all heresay but I'm sure with the increased production of Toyota and some of their contracts added with the price of fuel shutting some equipment down maybe that is their rational. But for what its worth its some good news.

As I write this, Diane is at the wheel backing into a dock where she will go inside, unload the freight, secure our freight-handling equipment, return to the truck, send in the proof of delivery. I'm in the sleeper with nothing but time on my hands today. Still curious?

Where is it slow?

I am exhuased from this past week and came home from northern Ontario for my physical.

I have driven well over 1400 miles from Friday to last night when I got home on one run and before that I was loaded every day through the week running between NC and Mass.
