An interesting run

We got a call late in the evening to pick up in Philadelphia and deliver to Washington DC. We were to deliver at 3:00am which meant no traffic and time to look around. We saw the Smithsonian, Washington Monument and the Reflecting Pool (no Jenny or Forrest), The Pentagon, The White House, The Capitol Building and two guys stealing the wheels off a car. Only in America!

Run into any drunken Kennedys going to a late-night secret vote?

Well Coco I would still vote for that run to Oilsands country at Fort McHenry,Ab you did a few weeks ago as being a bit more desireable

As far as the James Bay trip. With a 236 mile gap between service stations ya better be good at holding it. So do you go all the way up the 109 to Radison? And does the road stay open year round?

I have also been fascinated with the winter trips across the frozen lakes in Canada to supply the northern mining operations.

The other day, we made a delivery to Ranger Boats in Flippin, AR. That just cracked me up! When we made our departure call, dispatch was reading the address back, and she just burst out laughing too. I have to wonder sometimes, what the people were thinking when they named some of these places. :7 :7

Flippin, AR is only 120 miles from Toad Suck, AR, another great tourist destination.

We have full facilities in the truck so no need to hold anything, except for the wheel that is. :)

Yep, the road is open year round. The usual destination is Radisson; however, we also go into Chisasibi.

It is *very* remote with no cell service so we carry a satellite phone and make sure the truck is always in top shape.

Yes, if nothing else one certain develops patience while rolling slowly across the ice roads.

DC is a great place to visit. We spent 8 days there one winter over xmas-ny. We spent 2 full days in the Smithsonian and could have spent at least that much more. That was a quarter century ago. I'd enjoy going again and could spend a couple weeks there I'm sure.

I don't know what I ever did wrong, I hear of all these great adventures, all these cool places some of you go but when I was running all I would ever get is runs up and down I75 or a deadend run to AZ or Boston. No NW, No Florida, Nothing but boring I75 and sometimes the 401 in ONT. I was a team, had numbers above AVG, never late, always on time for PU but always seemed to get passed on things like this.

All in good time....it will happen. We have been driving for 2 1/2 years. Be patient, it will come when you least expect it.:)

Skip over a state or two and you can visit, Big Bone Lick State Park outside of Florence KY or Sugartit KY! But, my favorite is in Texas. There is a small town called Cut and Shoot, down the road a piece is Security.
