RE: An Economic and Trucking Slowdown is Happening
Where to start?! First off, I think this is telling folks there's a rollercoaster ride coming up while the ride already started. No fault of the author, as he may not have known this. If, as the article says, this downturn started last year, most of us will be here when it ends. I can take more below-avg weeks than above-avg, as I believe most on here can. Or, as talk has been going on, most have already have been doing just that.
Secondly, what happens when deer are overpopulated, and food gets scarse? The week die off, making the population hardier. Not wanting to see anyone 'die off', but as Team Caffee alludes to, the first to go will be the drivers who don't know how to profit; ie, be less fussy with runs. I might add that owners who don't take care of their trucks, don't keep money set aside, don't pay drivers, etc, will also be gone with the wind. In the end, we will be a stronger entity. Addition by subtraction.
Broom... Old Dominion, JB, Schneider, any of the big boys can claim they do expedite. But until McDonald's claims to have the best jambalaya, and actually does, I doubt it. Some things are best left to the ppl who know what they're doing. And don't think they're cutting their prices below ours. As you've found out in big rigs, their rates are more than ours, and that's not door to door business at break neck speed.
Speaking of speed... Hey Cheri, medium speed? Would that be considered SLIGHT SPEED? As opposed to LIGHT speed, LUDICROUS speed, or the infamous LINT speed?
-True independence can only be gained if you're trully independant.
