An 8 year Old and Botox

I would think that injecting botulism into a child's face falls on the side of harmful, but I did drop out of med school :p

That would be my first thought but I really have NO idea about what harm it may do. One could make the same argument about the damage that contact sports do to kids. Many kids are KILLED every year playing sports. Then you could say that allowing a 16 year old to handle a car is abuse. Putting a kid into the MOST dangerous situation there is.

It is the idea of teaching a kids that there are more important things than substance in their lives that is the REAL danger. That is, however, NONE of my business.

I saw a clip of this mother and kid on the news. She also admitted she's a part time cosmetologist? and wouldn't answer to who supplied the poison to her. What a dope.

Are there any current laws on the books in the area she lives in that would NOT allow her to do this? I THOUGHT, don't know for sure, that only a doctor can inject this stuff.

Why would anyone want to have this stuff injected for other than purely health reasons? You is what you is. Live with it.

Not sure. I was never called to the bar either :p

You mean the kilts?

No, the booze. I was fishing up in Scotland. I won a couple of days on the River Teviot, near Kelso. I was staying at the Ednam House on River Tweed in Kelso. It is right on the "Junction Pool" one of the most famous salmon holes in the world.

It was May, HOT, and I was sleeping through mid-day so I could fish in the cool of the evening.

There was a pounding on my door. I opened it and there was a Scotsman, in a tux (no kilt, must have been a "fake" Scotsman) He asked if I was the American. I said yes. He then asked if I wanted to join in a Scottish wedding party.

I explained that I was up fishing and had no proper clothes to wear. He laughed, said this was Scotland and they like to party, clothing did not matter. They all had thought that it would be a fun thing for an American to "experience" a "REAL" Scottish party. So I went.

There was one of those "BIG" bottles of "Bell's Scotch", the ones that they hang up side down at the bar to dispense from, on EVERY table. They were drinking out 12OZ water glasses!! UNBELIEVABLE!!

LOL, not for them :p

So you did the Highland fling and ate up all your haggis ?

:D:D

Nope, no fling and there were no haggis, at least that I can remember, which is NOT very much!! LOL!! They were a "PARTY BUNCH" to say the least. No fights, just a LOT of "Happy Drunks"!

Is the Botox worse than the 'great expectations' this model mom [sorry! I hate puns, really!] is placing on the child? She WILL become a rich and famous adult, or....or...or what?
Hope she can earn enough pole dancing to pay for her therapy AND Mom's support [which is what Mom is most interested in.]

Cheri, I feel many parents have a feeling of a lost childhood and live through their kids, which I lean toward forcing them to seek professional mental health help because it is a serious sickness.

The doctor who gave the 8 year old needs to be brought before a disciplinary committee to see what can be done about him/her - the drug is not to be used for anyone under the age of 12.

There isn't money in the budget to treat seriously psychotic people - you think parents with illusions [as opposed to delusions] rate scarce resources?
I think we should work on the homeless nuts first, myself.

There's undoubtedly a lot of doctors who should be disciplined, but it takes something on the order of killing Micheal Jackson - and even then, it's not a sure thing.
Besides, it wasn't a doctor who injected the child, it's her Mom, and Mom orders the stuff online, and apparently, it's not illegal.
Brain damaged stupid, but not illegal.

Well I would agree but here is the problem with worrying about a budget or resources;

The resources for mental health treatment is not scarce for those with insurance. Many of these parents with this type of mental issue are 'upwardly mobile' parents with good paying jobs (ever seen how much money is spent on these kids to make them look like .... well you know what I mean). The money is there to live through the kid and some of it does get abusive and sick, bordering on insane at times. The kid has to deal with pressures they shouldn't while the parents are living in a fantasy world.

There's undoubtedly a lot of doctors who should be disciplined, but it takes something on the order of killing Micheal Jackson - and even then, it's not a sure thing.

Well you know what I mean. While 'killing' jackson wasn't just the doctor's doing and he was a grown man, maybe the mom needs to be investigated.

Wow just saw an interview with Judge Pirro on this subject and boy did she go to town in a LOUD way :D

Judge Pirro states that ....

There is an investigation underway by Child Services although she would want to see a DA investigation also.

The mother can be prosecuted on many counts ...

Botox is not FDA approved for children

The mother is not a medical doctor and these injections have to be administered under the guidance of a doctor.

Judge Pirro said that the police should be investigating .....

where the mother got the botox from

What doctor was involved in this

there was more but ...... she speaks fast

Not true, it is approved for 12 years old and up.

The same can be said for anti-depressants, I think most of them is approved for use in adults under 19, but we have 10 years olds getting zoloft or some other mind altering acid style drug.

The mother is not a medical doctor and these injections have to be administered under the guidance of a doctor.

This is part of the problem, in many cases it doesn't matter because if the kid was 12 years old, the mother can administer the drug to him/her. The same holds true with most OTC drugs, but because of the approval by the FDA for 12 and up, even if she got a doctor's script, it there is a bigger problem - the doctor now assumes a huge liability if something goes wrong.
