A lawsuit from whom? They're a private organization, not required to admit anyone they don't want. Seriously: ever hear of women or Jews suing because they're not admitted to private clubs?

Could some local Troops just say it's not really in our best interest to get into a public battle with one family with a gay kid, and drop their sponsorship?

Sure, that could happen, but if they aren't willing to fight for what they believe, then that says something too.

Depends on the leader and support from the congregation - some would, some wouldn't. And if the congregation won't support a fight, doesn't that say something about what they believe?
Discrimination against adult gays is bad, but against gay teens [who want to be Boy Scouts!] is despicable, IMO. If that's how people feel, the least they can do is own it - if they reject the gay youth, it's their loss.
I guess I should feel sorry for them, but I just don't anymore. Too many gay [or 'allegedly' gay] teenagers have committed suicide rather than live with feeling despised for something they didn't ask for, and don't know how to handle [isn't adolescence tough enough?!] for me to sympathize with those who contribute to their misery.

In a FREE country individuals are ALLOWED to believe as they choose. In a FREE country, PRIVATE organizations can believe as they choose. When those choices are condemned and/or taken away, we are NO longer a FREE country.

I think it is a shame that freedom of choice, freedom of beliefs and freedom to associate with whom one chooses too is being ridiculed and soon taken from us.


The Girl Scouts are NO different, they don't allow boys. Girls want to play on boys teams but don't you DARE try to put a boy on a girls team.

HEY! I have a REALLY good idea, why don't gay people start their OWN organization like the Boy Scouts! Then THEY could exclude straight people.

I wonder what kind of crap I would take if I started the "United White People College Fund".

Funny, it often seems like there is a double standard. Like, law abiding citizens having their Constitutional rights taken away and criminal invaders being rewarded for their criminal activities just because they voted for Obama.

Do - I love hearing about people doing dumber things than I do!

When you know what you believe is right, you don't back down -it's as simple as that. My mind can be [and has been] changed by logic, reason, and fact, but by badgering or intimidation? Not a chance.
If the BSA believes they are right, they can continue to stand up for what they believe - no one can stop them.

I want to play on whatever team Jennifer Aniston plays on--and change in the same locker room, or at least be a reporter covering it, so I'd have access to the locker room. That's a line from the comic strip Bloom County, the one with Opus the penguin. The cartoonist was lampooning beauty pageants, having one contestant state "Homosexuals don't belong in our polka halls" during her interview portion, a statement reflecting her cookie-cutter, intentionally square, manufactured attitude designed to play to middle America.
Round them up? I think we can stop short of that. But at least, let's not pretend it's just another lifestyle; let's not permit political correctness to pressure everybody to accept it; let's not put it on equal footing with marriage; let's not allow these sexual deviants access to our children; let's not portray them as "just like us" in movies or TV, or show them kissing.
Likewise, let's not allow violence against them. But if they kept their perversion to themselves, they'd be surprised at how much less hostility they'd encounter in the first place.

There is no such thing as a homophobe or homophobia, and I doubt thieves hate having their belongings being stolen from them any more than anyone else.

The court cases and other BS. That is my only concern. IF the BSA CHOOSE this route without any outside pressure, fine. That is OKEE DOKEE by me.

I don't care what others do as long as it is legal and does not infringe on others rights.

Of course a "white only" group would be shut down. It is strange, during the sixties black people fought to become more of a part of the overall society, which was right. Then, the closer that came to becoming reality the more they CHOSE to separate themselves from it.

I seen it when I was in the army and somewhat at the Agency. We all worked together but few black men joined in off work adventures, other than team sports. Doors were open but they seldom entered. Why? I don't know. Maybe it is as simple as people are more comfortable in closed groups of those they resemble.

I was not speaking of gays being criminals, I was speaking of the 12 million invaders who thumb their noses at our law and are now being rewarded for their criminal activity. At the same time people who have NEVER committed a crime, followed the laws, rules and social standards are now having their rights stripped from them.

Never in all recorded history has a nation once blessed......ever returned to it's founding roots, once the moral decay reaches a certain point. We've long passed that juncture.

Being older, I can only give thanks for witnessing the tail end of a once great country. We can hold that high ground no longer. We lost our freedom when we threw away our moral compass and the resulting downhill slide will only become more painful as we go.

The founders knew it, warned about it, and gave us the best shot at keeping a moral society. But like all great Republics, it ran it's course. No outside invading force could ever take down America. Many have written about the decay from within, and it's here.
