The Arizona shooter, Jared Loughner, ranted wildly about government. His ramblings show he had real disdain for goernmental authority and refused to acknowledge its dominion. Should young Mr. Loughner have been given more or less freedom? He managed to purchase a handgun legally and execute a direct attack on the United States government by killing a US Congresswoman and a federal judge. One can conclude if young Mr. Loughner actually respected government's necessary role in our lives, the massacre never would have happened. But it did... and now we all will see government clamp down harder on our diminishing rights as a huge overreaction surely comes our way.
He DID NOT commit a "direct attack" on the government of the United States. He attacked several individuals, one of which was employed by the People of the United States, the judge, and one who was employed by the people of ONE congressional district in Arizona. He also attacked several other people.
This is the crime that the left has been waiting for. It will be their "excuse" to make an attempt to take out the Bill of Rights. You will soon see just who in Congress will live up to their oath to "protect and defend" our Constitution and who will not. We already know where many, including Obama, stand on our Constitution.
Anyone who voted FOR Obama care is opposed to our Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
As to the alleged shooter, he should be prosecuted under Arizona law, and if found competent to stand trail must do so.
The role of government in our lives is narrowly defined in the Constitution and MUST be restricted to those clearly defined roles.
Tell me, do you honestly believe that 537 people, many of whom are not the sharpest tacks in the box, should have power OVER 300 million? That makes little sense to me.
Last I heard the congresswoman was still alive, did you hear otherwise?
The Federal government has NO LEGAL authority to restrict firearm or ammunition purchases. The Second Amendment insures that the People have the RIGHT to own them. That right is there to insure the power of the People over the government.
