American congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords shot in the head

Gabrielle Giffords, a Democratic US congresswoman, was shot in the head at close range while holding a public event outside a grocery store in Tucson, Arizona

At least five other people, including members of her staff, were hurt when a gunman ran up to the meeting and opened fire.

Miss Giffords, 40, was taken to hospital and there were no immediate reports on her condition.

An hour before her shooting, she wrote on Twitter: "My 1st Congress on Your Corner starts now. Please stop by to let me know what is on your mind or tweet me late

I am really surprised that this type of thing hasn't happened before to a few others!
I in no way condone this type of thing, Not even to Obumma, But as we all know there are Mental Midgets out there that don't care and will do it!:(

Telegraph and CNN are now reporting that there are conflicting reports as to whether Congresswoman Giffords is alive or dead.

It's a sad day when this kind of thing happens. Any news on the perp? There are reports that he's in custody and in his late teens or early 20s.

In all the reports that I have been reading there is no mention of any arrest(s). and that "the motive is unclear"

She is alive and they are optimistic of a recovery but won't guess how much of a recovery. A Federal judge was reported killed along with a 9 year old child.
They have a white male 22 years old in custody.

I was listening to KNX1070 radio which is radio station in Los Angeles he is Congressman from that area talking live on radio at the time blaming the Tea Party member that was running against Giffords

Watching Fox News report their live coverage on this story. Seems the shooter was a 22 year-old white male whose ramblings on his MySpace page (as read by Fox reporters) obviously depict a mentally deranged young man. These early reports are invariably chaotic and prone to errors. 18 or 19 people shot, several deceased, including a federal judge and a 9 year-old child.

We live in an open society, thankfully. One downside being some nut can spray a political gathering with a hail of bullets. Hopefully, all the wounded survivors will recover.

President Barack Obama called the shooting "an unspeakable tragedy" and that such "a senseless and terrible act of violence has no place in a free society." Obama sent his FBI director to oversee the investigation.

I feel sorry for those who were injured and killed but the thing is no one seems to be so concern about the innocent victims from an open border that is caused by the last three administrations and this statement should be said about every murder, accident victim and any other victim of a crime that has happened to citizens in this country by the invaders into this country.

As much as I feel there is a need for some involvement from the feds, the state should be the one who has the right to investigate and charge the individual with the crime.

The gunman will face multiple charges by the federal government and the state of Arizona as well. An attack upon a member of Congress is a federal crime, as is an attack upon a federal judge.

Anybody see the news conference with that Sheriff of Pima County?????

I'm sorry Sheriff, but speaking in front of news agencies from all over the world about this tragedy was NOT the place to let your political beliefs be known.

Talk about adding fuel to the fire. He did just that with his personal comments during that news briefing. Waste of a news conference that was supposed to let us know a little more about what happened, who the victims were, and what was going on with the investigation.
