Al Gore sells his TV channel to Al-Jazeera.

Yes, Al-Jazeera wants to put a happy face on its reporting. They probably have a gardening show and the equivalent of Reading Rainbow for children. Bottom line is, their sympathies lie with the Muslim world whose radical elements are waging war against the United States and Western Civilization in general. Many Americans aren't going to like that Al Gore just made their propagandizing easier. This would have been a criminal act a generation ago.

But their oil is good, right? You'll happily fill your tank with that.

We get 13% of our oil from the Middle East. We get 15% from Canada and we produce 38% on our own. We have the reserves and the ability to produce 100% of our own but our government won't allow us to do so.

The United States gets most of its oil from Mexico, Canada or from domestic sources. Al-Jazeera is based out of Qatar, I believe. Preferrably, we wouldn't buy oil from the Middle East at all.

So the WW2 analogy is false then. 13% is a huge amount of trade between countries at war.

Here is a list of the top ten countries that we import oil from. As of now I am not aware of a state of war existing with any of them.

Al Jeazeera is owned by the GOVERNMENT Qatar, in the form of the Qatar Media Corporation. It is a government owned and operated system. State owned systems only produce what that state wants them too. There is little chance of objectivity. It is much like Pravda or it's Nazi German counterparts.

1. Canada
2. Mexico
3. Saudi Arabia
4. Venezuela
5. Nigeria
6. Angola
7. Iraq
8. Algeria
9. United Kingdom
10. Brazil

Are we at war with, or unaligned/not allied with Qatar?

So then why the analogy between WW2 and this story?

WW2 was a global war as is the current war against the religious zealots spawned by Radical Islam. We aren't at war with any nation or government. Rather than be sneak attacked again, as happened on 9/11/2001.... we take the battle to the combatants wherever they can be found. President Obama has become quite fond of drones.

Then I guess the drones will shortly be over Al Jazeera's offices. Time will tell.

It depends on whether or not Obama supports that faction. Since Gore is involved there is a good chance that Obama is in agreement with it. You cannot trust either of those two.

We cannot afford another event like 9/11. Osama bin Laden's goals and objectives were achieved with wild success.

Because of the 9/11 attacks the United States became involved in long, expensive wars... draining our national treasury and dividing Americans against each other along ideological lines. Since we cannot be defeated by conventional military means, Osama bin Laden found a more ingeniuos way to accomplish his intentions. Just a few terrorists can change world history.

We can jam their broadcasts at any moment. Has Canada ever had an event like Pearl Harbor or 9/11 ???

Pearl Harbor? No. But there have been attacks on our soil. None that news agencies claimed responsibility for (to my knowledge).

I see them as a global news agency (I have no clue what legitimate means in relation to any news agency. Too many factors and people involved).

You consider a STATE OWNED and CONTROLLED broadcast company a "NEWS AGENCY"? They exist solely to serve that State and IT'S interests. As with ALL State owned "news outlets".

I read what is posted and go from there to form my opinions.
