OK, We finally ran a long run, Cripple Creek, CO to NJ. Got a good chance to check MPG's since putting on the Air Tabs. No idling, no reefer, no APU's. We were carrying 1500lbs. Looks like we did just pretty dog gone peachy!! :D

We filled up 3 times numbers below:

First fill: 10.98 MPG
Second Fill: 10.33 MPG
Third Fill: 11.28 MPG

That averages out to 10.86 MPH. That is up from before we put them on by maybe 1/2 mpg. Maybe a bit higher. I kinda like that!!!

those are good numbers, but any idea why the big variance between fillups. one was 7/10 and the other 9/10. big change, just curious. mine has been at a solid 10.2 for total consumption, that includes idling and apu. been considering air tabs but want a fleet filter first.

You were traveling west to east...how much tail wind you encounter?

Considering FSC is configured at 9 mpg..you put money in your pocket...fuel was 100% paid for....you going to give the Feds back the surplus you did not spend? ;)

Nope, that is REAL profit money, ALL OURS!!

Don't know why the differences between fill ups. Did not notice any tail or head winds when I was driving. More hills on second fuel load? Different driver? Hard to say.

I keep close track of my MPG. Loss of MPG is one sign of problems with the truck so we watch it like a hawk. We run between 55-63 mph. That is in the 1200-1400 rpm range.

when you can and speed limit allows, you should try to run a tank @ 1300 rpm whatever speed that works out at on your truck and see where your mpg comes in at. i get my best at 1300 rpm at least over all as i stated.

We often run at that rpm range, it works best on flat land. That is close to a shift point and if it is too hilly it shifts far to much. I will then kick it up just a touch to get it past that. I am looking into having my shift points changed.

Not 100% paid for but really reasonable. With FSC of .2211 those three fills work out to $2.427, $2.284 and $2.494 per gallon in FSC money so that would be 50-70 cents per gallon out of pocket or about a nickel a mile actual fuel cost.
