Air conditioners that hook up to fuel tank, is it a thing?

I don't know. Probably a bit more than a small Honda. There are a couple of E.O. members running them on vans. Maybe they will reply.

I'm running a 2,800 watt Onan and I'm seeing fuel consumption close to the posted specs. I was in Florida for a weekend and ran the generator from mid morning until about 23:00 in the evening for 2 days with a 13,500 AC, a refrigerator and a TV set and used between 1/4 and 1/2 tank of fuel from my vehicle tank. That's about 8-10 gallons in 28-30 hours of running steady. But the AC shuts off at the preset temp as does the refrigerator. Used microwave for meal, maybe 10-20 minutes per day. It's still far cheaper then a room for 2 nights!
