Aerocell?

I have found a really good deal on a 2010 Chevy cutaway van with a 15ft Areocell body by Unicell on it. It is the dual rear wheel version with a 10,00 GVW rating. It has a 4.8 litter engine and the new GM six speed transmission. It has a 3.73 rear axle.
Does anyone know what kind of fuel mileage I can expect from this combination?

Thanks,
Marty

The important question is this;

Does the original GM sticker say 10,000 lbs or does the upfitter's sticker say 10,000 lbs?

cruise?
greg, it might well be a mfg plate with the 4.8. my old e250 had all the hardware the e350 had but it came with the 4.6 engine. the e350 had no 4.6 option.

Cruise yes. If those were directed at my light of foot comment that meant 0-60 in 20-30 seconds and highway crusing 60-62 mph range not fast starts and fast cruising.

The "regular" Unicel pool chassis from GM do not have cruise, it is not part of the "Convenince paakage" which is really dumb...you get tilt, power window & locks and the chrome appearance package...but no speed control....:rolleyes:

But while adding it isn't cheap, (these are drive by wire gas petals) it is well worth it....

And the 4.8 in a DRW cut away DRW is a rareity....I am wondering how the hyway accel will be with that 6 spd and the 3:73 when cruising and you need to push it...

The van I found has a 10,000GVW set by GM not by Unicell. It was a special order never picked up by the person who ordered it. The weight on the paperwork states 7600 lbs but I don't know how accurate that really is.

7600 lbs!! Wow!! I know that are heavy, but thats up there, but then again it is a DRW...and a I am figuring a FRP body...so maybe...

Now look at this, the "GM incomplete manufacturer door jam sticker" sayes 10,000 lb gvw...thats empty...now add you, a tank of gas and the "Stuff" you will install and take with you to make life out here livable and before that, freight straps, e-track, freight bars and a subfloor so that pallets move easier...you can easily add another 1500 lbs in a heartbeat...that take s you to 9100 lbs before you add a lb in freight...ok lets back it down to you adding 1000 lbs which i'd bet will be low, but you are still at 8600 lb..now you have 1400 lbs available for freight...with that kind of capacity, how long do you thin your "ROI" is going to take????

There are other units available that would better serve you...

Is it a frp body or fiberglass?? is it a bubble ???? is it a flat front box??? i would say 12 at the low end and 14at the high end

The Aerocell is all fiberglass. It has a built-in nose cone and the area between the doors and the box is rounded for better aerodynamics. It is probably the most aerodynamic of the dual wheel cube vans. If you Google unicell bodies you will find Unicell's web site and see picturers.
