Adding a sleeper to an International 4700??

Does anyone out there have any idea how hard/expensive it would be to add a sleeper to an International 4700? I have access to one at a VERY good price and wondering if its worth going through the trouble. I am guessing the frame in the back would need to be extended and the box moved back. Also, anyone know any good resources for used sleepers?

Thanks for your assistance!

one thing have to rememeber is there a box on it already
if there is you have take off the box and then put sleeper on
so how long is box and what size is the sleeper

so lets start with easy way first have truck and cab
no sleeper no box

now add the sleeper 48" and what size box 22' and does it match up to frame or rails, do you have to add to frame to make it fit

and ball park figure starting out at least 5,000 or more
does person or shop know what there doing
as if it's not right it is a nightmare

i would buy one all set up and ready to go save time and money

Hey Zenoit,

There is a member on here named Toes- he and his father run Marcum Trucking out of Thurman, OH. These guys specialize in the work you are talking about, and about everything else that could possibly pertain to a truck.

Believe it or not, I added a nice big Alumi Bunk to my F650 day cab. I picked up the sleeper for practically nothing, thanks to a helpful tip from another member on this site, and from there, I had to find a different box.

You can not go over 40 feet long on two axle truck, so that is why I got the different box. That is where the fellas at Marcum Trucking came in.

Darrell contacted me after I emailed him about some questions I had about doing this, and he spent a good couple hours walking me through the old box removal and sleeper placement process.

After I got the sleeper on and bolted down, I took the truck down to Southern Ohio, where I paid Darrell and his father Bill, to put on one of their boxes, which was the right size I needed.

These guys did a phenomenal job, and I even lucked out and my new, used box had a functional lift gate. Most importantly, you could never in a million years, find anybody with more reasonalbe rates.

Woobergoober,

Can you give more information on the sleeper conversion. I can purchase used trucks with the day cab for a good price, but I'm still looking for deals on the sleeper units.

If you have any information regarding these sleepers, please email me at [email protected].

Do you have a phone number for Marcum Trucking?

The last time I talked to Kieth Bentz (Bentz Transport Products Ft.Wayne).He said there is an issue about putting AC units in a sleeper on the 4700. It seems when they spliced into the AC lines it caused the computer to go berzerk.

Maybe they have found a way around this.At that time the only way was to add a separate compresser, adding about $1500.00 I think he said.

You might want to check this out before you get too far into your project.
