After having been refused healthcare by 3 major suppliers...I am in the High Risk Pool....the first stage of Obamacare programs installed...and it ain't cheap!!! nor FREE....holy crap??....
Obama Care will CONTINUE to drive up the cost AND make it harder to get. That is part of the plan. Once they drive up the price high enough and make it impossible to get they are going to push for a single pay, government controlled, mandated system. The most EXPENSIVE and least efficient type system there is, BUT, it gives the government control over most of our lives. Which is all they are after.
I am paying the government with this program.....the check goes to the feds...

Well as it goes....the High Risk Pool program ends in 2014 to be replaced with the "Exchange" program...and since SD is not participating in the federal program(opting out)....who knows...maybe by then because I've quit smoking and lost weight I'll be able to have more options....as it is right now...you are correct...I am screwed....

Many "middle-class" people don't realize how much their taxes are going to go up just because of Obamacare. Here's a good article to help understand this. Pay particular attention to item #4 regarding the reduction of tax writeoffs for medical expenses.

In my case thankfully that doesn't come into play until the 2013 tax year....2012's is still set at 7.5% of gross adjusted income....for 2013 I'll just have to make sure i have every little receipt to lower my G.A.I. to a lower number to compensate...
