Canada ACE Canada loads

Has anyone else had the pleasure of doing an ACE load yet?
this is our second. thought the kinks would be worked out by now but i guess they aren't. we've been loaded since 4:45 this afternoon and are still waiting for dispatch to give us the okay to leave (paperwork hasn't cleared yet and can't leave shipper til okayed by dispatch...for those of you who aren't familiar w/program). at 6pm we were told that adminserve needed more info (apparently the paperwork has been revised but we never rec'd the new paperwork) so now we are waiting for it all to clear and its 7pm. last time it took 2 hrs wait at the shipper and then 1 hr before we could go to border, it still wasn't cleared and we were at the border for 2 1/2 hrs. anybody having better luck....i hope so
i think it kind of sucks that we aren't getting detention for sitting here for 2 hrs when we could be on the road on our way. surely it will get better with time!!x(

So far only one load. That went smooth. I think in your case, it may have been the shipper making an error on your paperwork. Or...our team got lucky. Too early to tell since the program is new.

No A.C.E experience yet,i think you deserve detention time.I was wondering if and when a passport will be needed? i hear it's coming just don't know when.

Good question on the passports. Right away on air travel, but I have heard numerous versions on everything else.

The passport requirement is in effect now for air travelers. For everyone else it will be Jan.'08. I've also read that "other secure documents" will be accepted. I guess that would be a FAST card?

I would hope the FAST card would work instead of a passport. This is getting expensive. First the CDRP, then the FAST and now a passport.

My hazmat endorsement is due in November. Has anybody tried to get their FAST background check to qualify for the hazmat background check. I would rather not pay for another background check.

All of the reports I've heard, the FAST background doesn't apply to the Hazmat background. Go figure :-( We went ahead an got our passports about a month ago, I didn't like carrying our birth certificates around with us. Total cost for 2 without the "expedited" service they offer was right at 200.00!! (THUD)

Oh yeah, it took almost 8 weeks to get them back!!
